More lifelike feeling in melee combat?

I was thinking how awesome the battles in Halo Legends were.
For example, the Arbiter one.

So, why doesn’t 343 put a melee system like that. Now, I don’t say it should be like jumping into a group of enemies and kill them like a ninja because that, of course, would not be Halo.
What I meant is, that we get more ways of killing an enemy in melee, like the assassinations in Halo Reach. But yeah, if we had an animation for every single melee, it wouldn’t be nice. Not nice at all. Enemies shoot at us while we are killing an enemy. Too much time for the animation to finish, not practical. But let it be animations that take as much time as one melee hit. Like, you melee a grunt, and instead of just punching him, he grabs his head and throws him away and then you keep shooting guys. Or he just punches him in the sky and keeps kicking -Yoink-. Or other ways. I’m sure that 343 could think of many cool melee kills.

And one more thing. I don’t think this would look nice in multiplayer where we fight (I guess) spartans. It should only be in campaign and firefight.

You just spent most of your post describing instances where your idea would “not be nice”. I think I agree with you! :slight_smile:
