more gruesome forge "objects"?

So thought of making a topic about what i have been thinking since Halo 3 and would like to see discussion about it again for infinite this time.

If the title didnt give the topic away i will elaborate its contents a bit. What i mean by more gruesome forge objects is simply such things as wrecked vehicles and parts of them, bodies of various species, blood puddles and -splatters, mist/fog layers, weather manipulation and such things in addition to already existing light manipulation.
It could bring more possibilities to create more war-torn maps with visual background stories and such, also, it could make flood maps especially more atmospheric and perhaps ironically more lively.

So, thoughts?

Sounds awesome. Could make some cool darker themed maps.

That actually sounds pretty cool. Now that you mention it, most forge maps feel kind of plain, looking as clean as they are. Some dark-themed objects like skulls, wrecked vehicles, and fires could really add some personality to the forge maps.

One particular part of the Halo franchise that gets mentioned more than some, was the reveal of the Flood. Words get thrown around like “disturbing”, “scary” and “gruesome”. I never felt any of that playing it, even at a younger age.

I can remember reading about how it made Halo a horror franchise in a loose sense.

What I would like to see and feel is an accurate portrayal of how haunting and vicious the Flood and the carnage they bring is.

I like what you are suggesting.

I would like to see an ODST game where you play exclusively against the Flood and Innsurectionists, a la Left 4 Dead style…, but that’s another discussion all together.

Side note: The Marine in H3 that’s all wrecked from seeing his squad get turned on a mission’s name that escapes me was making me think there was absolute horror on the other side if that door. In reality, it was another shoot your way through level. I just think the franchise could have done more with the Flood.

I simply used the word gruesome given it gives instant image of what i could mean by the rest of the text with one word given titles cant be that long.

And i remember that too, and in a sense flood could be a sort of horror aspect in Halo even in future if its executed well.

And i too have wanted a game where you can play as a Marine/ODST/similar but not only with flood but still with flood included, like maybe the timeline could be somewhere around original trilogy with occasional covenant and flood encounters and seeing that different factions fight each other creating different strategic opportunities.

And i think you mean floodgate? And i think that there is no sure answer if his squad were beginning to turn into flood hence he had to shoot them turning him to a wreck or if he got mad from all the carnage around him leading him to shoot his healthy squad in the back when they were barricading themselves to a perhaps last stand position. It could be either or neither, really.

And the franchise could have done more with the flood but hopefully in the future we will see more flood in Halo from different perspective and such.

But good to see that people seem to be for more forge options that could mean rather interesting community creations.

Wrecked vehicles sound like a great option. Just add that and maybe some flood pieces and I think that might be enough. I mean halo 5s forge has already given us a lot of great pieces to make war torn maps between riot/explosion sounds, fog options, the garbage decals can easily be made to look like blood, weather options, smoke effects, and dead bodies. Though adding some torn down buildings or ruins would be nice though. I don’t want to keep filling up the physics and objects bar by spawning in a bunch of prefabs.

Although I think some more sound options could be added. We already have human screams but how about the war cries or elites and the screams and groaning of flood? Also I would like to see some sound options for individual weapons and vehicles.
Some other nice features might be prop characters that are like dead bodies but they are positioned
to look standing, fighting, etc. Along with weapon fire effects so they can be added to the background of maps so you can see fighting in the distant smoke.
I’ve already done similar stuff with the dead bodies but having gun effects would make it feel much more believable.

Skulls and multiple variations of fire already exist in halo 5s forge.

My bad on this post. I apparently have stupid thumbs.

That would make for some great maps and mechinama

Great and atmospheric maps would be the point here but machinimas and other community content really would be one side for this too.

But any particular you would like to see in the subject matter?thing in

I think the wrecked vehicles, mist and bodies would be my first call. I am not sure how well the weather manipulation would work in Halo, if it might be too much to hope for.

It could be but toggle rain wouldnt be that much different from the fog depending on how well the added object physics would go with the rain drops. As in would they go through or would the drops stop at the top of the placed objects for one.
So weather manipulation could be done depending if its something devs/publishers want to spend time on given it has been done before.
The basic toggle of daytime would be basically about shading/lightning and would be noticeable and perhaps important part for the atmosphere of the map. It could add a natural element to the map that could be used to vary the gameplay.

So it wouldnt be impossible but the question is the resource management in development of the game. As in the basic quality/profitability ratio of the product.

So it really could be too much to hope for but that is not a question the consumers can answer.
