More gametypes! (At a catch)

So 343 has said that they will be adding more gametypes in the future updates and are currently working out which ones to slot them into. Great! you may think, but if you analyse the statement further you realize some things.

First of all is that they are only just NOW working out which updates to put which gametypes into and how much time to allocate to their development. This means that 343 NEVER planned to put them in in the first place!

Second of all is that 343 isnt going to give us these basic Classic halo gametypes in a timely manner. Rather they are going to drip feed us them over the coming months and years like we were some kind of starving crack addict who will always come back for more. Cutting these morsels of gameplay with weapon skins, REQs, armors and painted mongooses to make it feel like we’re getting more.

This is BULL–Yoink-! Hey 343 I dont give a flying -Yoink- about new REQs, weapon skins and armors! If its a matter of availability of dev time thats hindering your progress on these game types, as you will say it is, Drop work on REQs, weapon skins and armors! Hell drop EVERYTHING! And dedicate all your time to getting these basic staples of halo into the game that SHOULD have been there since day 1!

Hell even Greenskull who has been an avid supporter of 343 thusfar, has said that its not good enough that we dont have infection yet and has given 343 till February at the latest to put it in.

Well, they have to “drip feed” them if they weren’t planned pre-launch. Even the most simple gametypes take ages to make, unless glitches and lag are your thing, this is the best we are going to get.

this is true

Sad but all true.

If simple gametypes take ages to make, they need to rejigger their engine. If I had built the engine, (and I am a developer) I’d have built everything to be modular.
For instance, assault should be able to use all the mechanics of CTF and Strongholds. The bomb IIS just a flag with a different skin, and the arming sequence just a stronghold.

Infection just swaps teams on death.

Grifball is literally just neutral assault.

And so on and so forth.

Oddball might take some new code at this point, but again, it’s not much. It’s literally setting up an event to trigger stronghold type scoring while holding a particular item. Woo! One might argue that the passing mechanic would require additional code, but I don’t think it’s necessary for Oddball Minimum Viable Product.

No they dont. They need to stop work on everything and actually give the community what it wants in a timely manner
