So, I was just watching more Flood Mode gameplay that was recently uploaded.
First off, the Spartans are all… green, for some reason. to represent UNSC colors, possibly?
Now onto the major thing: the Flood’s Claw isn’t just a skin. It acts differently. Same animations, yes, but something else is different, that makes being a Flood more fair: The Lunge range.
Mother of God, it’s far. The Energy Sword’s lunge range is very short. Very short. However, because of Default Sprint, this is good, plus the fact the Energy Sword doesn’t get slowed down when shot. However, those factors don’t matter when you’re Flood. So, to balance this, the Claw Skin has a much farther lunge range, like Halo 2’s from the looks of it.
One thing that really kind of annoyed me is the fact that when the flood spartan infected a normal spartan it didn’t become covered in flood spawners or spores which would result in it becoming a flood spartan.

I agree with this. It’s seems like there would be some kind of animation where spores or just some kind of nasty transformation occurs. But I’m sure we won’t mind soon

Aside from the obvious difficulty of implementing this in general, it begs the question of what happens when someone’s body flies over the edge of a cliff or is incinerated or is blasted into an area that can’t otherwise be reached?

Perhaps it was planned but ultimately cut. Personally I cant complain. The fact we play as Flood is already worth the mode to me.
And those who’ve played say the Flood gurgle and moan like how you’d expect so it’s nice to know the Flood atleast have altered audio ques instead of being simply re-skinned spartans.
I also noticed that when the flood spartans used thruster pack they went much farther then in past videos. Do you think this is because the “flood” have special traits or do you think its possible to edit the AA itself?

They leave a small trail of spores behind them as you walk, too. I turned around and saw them floating around momentarily. It feels cool - and much more interesting - to be the infected this time 'round. I did liken it to the experience of being a special infected in L4D. I wish I got an assassination, though. I’ll try and get one when I go back this Sunday.
Also anyone else thing the flood spartans look a little Promethean-y? its the teeth that get me… but dang I hope they get their own asassination animation.

I hear they have. Another guy on here who posted his impressions says they have a unique, brutal, assassination.
Looks as if being a spartan is going to be more intense. Pretty much if you miss your first shot they are going to get you. In Reach’s infection it was way too easy to play as a human. I’m happy with these changes in Halo 4 so far.
The flood smile =) its funny to look at. I love the Flood skin. Looks great. But what’s up with that claw? Plus it looks just weird in first person. That being said that gametype looks like loads of fun and I can’t wait to play! I’m yoked! >__<
That’s all well and good, but what I really want to know is if there is any cool flood-specific assassinations? We’ve all seen marines killed by combat flood and we know that getting smacked by a flood claw doesn’t result in indoctrination, it’s the spores that do it. I want to know if I can impale someone with my arm and watch as they turn into flood before my eyes. Chances are that combat flood carry spores in them, but the spores would need time to… infect.
My only problem is that the Flood Spartans look more like the “zombies” from Dead Space than actual Flood Combat forms. I mean, they’re SMILING. Have you ever seen a person infected by the Flood? Their face is twisted in agony, not in some -Yoink–eating grin.

When did we ever confirm that the Sword’s range was short?
I remember seeing some guy fail with it, swinging when the reticule wasn’t on his target and just swishing at air just like in Reach, but never confirmation that the red reticule lock on is only just beyond melee range.
