As much as competitive multiplayer is fun for me from time to time. I prefer co-op like firefight and Spartan ops. Now firefight is fun but I liked Spartan ops involvement of canonical narrative in it’s missions but that limits replay value after a while.
I know there have been a few topics like this focusing on co-op but I’d like to add my two cents to the mix.
Taking a que from Titan Fall, where multiplayer an narrative seem to seamlessly cross, I’d like to see something like that. General mission ideas like attack, defense, capture, etc. But putting various spins on it to keep it from being overly repetitive.
Now I am having troubling thinking outside the box as far what this would this would look like but I want to give one of my ideas…
Rescue and Recovery - 2 teams of 4. Team 1 starts stuck behind enemy lines and is pinned down attempting to recover an object. Team 2 is a rescue team sent to rescue team 1. After team 2 gets to team 1, they can either escape to the evac zone or attempt to recover the objective together but face even greater opposition. Pay off would be greater if you recover the objective. Think invasion on Spire getting the power core.
Note… I did post this idea before a while ago but it’s the best I have right now but just as a jumping off point and I’d like to see what ideas for co-op you have.

Even if it would take some time, it would bring great population to HALO and keep the players steady. So 343i hire this man as a designer and in the words of Philip J. Fry… “Take my money!”
(Seriously great idea, honestly you should probably get hired from that idea alone)

@scar - Wow, very detailed post. I like your ideas. I like the scope too. That is what I want to see in future coop, a way to tap into the vastness of the Halo universe and take a part in the larger narrative not play out a linear path preset for me.
Anyway new idea…
Assassins - 1 team of 2-4. Mission is to sneak into an enemy camp and assassinate an enemy leader (ie Jul Mdama). There are multiple ways to do this… Up close or snipe from a distance. Then sneak out w/o getting caught. Extra points for making it look like someone other than the UNSC did it. Say sniping the target with a beam rifle rather than a UNSC Sniper. Think Halo Legends: Babysitter meets Kilo 5.

Kind of like your assassins idea, I was thinking that if they were going to bring a new co-op like feature, that there would be some class-ordering, maybe have a sniper class who is (sadly) forced to be in a camping location to back-up the players who are to deal in open-space. You can pick your own class before going in. There would of course be a Sniper, a CQC (CQC weapons), a Operator (Brings the team to the LZ after they finish their objective and is the only who can drive the vehicle), and then the Jack-of-all-Trades (No power weapons for this guy but honestly if anyone has an idea to fix JoaT that’d be finer)
