The ranking system is broken and placement matches are about wins not performance. My evidence is that I lost a 2v4 game on Fathom CTF against 2 diamonds and two onyx players and was ranked gold 4. I didn’t even perform badly. Can anyone help?
It is based on wins. They have said this several times.

You have to win so many consecutive games to rank up though, and you lose so much csr for losing once. This makes it especially difficult for solo cue players. I just fell like I have been given a rank I don’t deserve and because of the way the system works I am stuck with it.

Judging from my experience with this game, everything in it was made to work against solo players.

First of all, did you have a previous rank in that playlist from a previous season? Team Arena I guess?
Because it has been stated that previous ranks somewhat influence the new rank.
Second, the teams being unbalanced in terms of player numbers do to my knowledge not have any impact on csr gains / losses.
Third, one botched match didn’t throw you into Gold 4, the outcome and whatnot in all placement matches did. So no, your evidence isn’t evidence, it’s one sample out of many. When ypu can prove that the match alone put you in gold 4, then you have evidence.
I’ve played against Champions and Onyx players several times when I was unranked that Season. Whenever I’m Gold/Plat (e.g. this season), I’ve also been put against Diamond players many times. I can understand the frustration OP.

that’s exactly it I can’t ever get out of gold because of previous seasons when I was far worse at the game. And I never have enough time to grind out of the rank I feel I shouldn’t be in. But the algorithms don’t recognise things like this they just user statistics. You can destroy kids but still be stuck in gold just because your teammates were far worse.
Let’s say you are a silver. you rank up 1 or 2, but then your on a losing streak. You can go down both 2, but you will never go back to bronze.

you don’t need a big losing streak to lose all the csr you gained

You’ve never played more than 30 games in Arena in a season, usually you only play the 10 to get ranked and then maybe a few more. Rarely more than 20. Yo don’t grind, you don’t rank up. Pretty simple stuff. And your K/D hovers right around 1.0 usually, you’re not “destroying kids”. The “algorithms” are fine, and your rank is fine. You’re right where you’re supposed to be.

dude not to be rude but they are many people including me that grinds the way up (100+ games in arena to get onyx)
so yeh, the matchmaking system it’s not that great but, the ranking it’s not that bad as you say… If you play and win with higher ranks that your you rank up faster, and if you loose with lower than yours you get down faster. Just try to get a mic and form a squad with randoms

What search preference are you using? Cause that affects on how you will be ranked. It’s set to balanced but I recommend using focused since that will pair with people with similar rankings. If you go expanded then it will pick whichever match and whichever rank. The other guys in this thread also gave other reasons to your problem.
