A couple of days ago I posted this thread stating my beliefs that the Didact is manipulating Cortana which you can find here.
- Didact manuplating Cortana in HAlo 5 GuardiansI have two more new reasons to believe that this is what in fact is going on.
- If you remember at the end of HAlo 4 during the last level Midnight the Didact telephatically expresses interest in Master Chief’s Ancilla (Forerunner term for AI) which is Cortana.
- Right as 031 Exuberant Witness manages to save Blue Team’s Crytum from Cortana as she leaves Genesis she declares that the Genesis is a Builder Installation and that she SERVES the Builders. If you remember Halo Cyrptum the Forerunner novel the Builders HATED the Warriors which is what the Didact is and another person speculated that this is evidence that Exuberant Witness is very aware that the Didact is involved in this scheme.
If indeed the Didact has been manipulating Cortana the entire time this is going to be the ONLY way that she can be redeemed if Master Chief is able to free Cortana from the Didact’s control. I was imagining a scene where the Master Chief is demanding that the Didact set his best friend free in the upcoming Halo 6.
Thoughts ?
Have you considered the events where Masterchief reunites with blue team and they fight the Didact in the halo escalation comic books the mini comic series was called the next 72 hours.

If your saying that because your think the Didact is dead then I’m going to stop you right there. Master Chief himself state that the Didact has only been contained not killed.
Of course I have read the Halo Escalation comics. And when the Didact’s physical body was destroyed it was in fact composed and where else would the didact’s digital conciouness go except the Domain where it would infect Cortana when she made contact there.
Not Ur-Didact, sorry bud.
-
He was composed - by 7 composers - in the Escalation comics. He’s digital essence. I don’t think he’s currently in a position to manipulate anybody.
-
Rather, look at it this way: Both Ur-Didact and Cortana spent time alone with a Gravemind and both started to take skewed, corrupted lines of thought (both were given a form of the Logic Plague). Both have lines which are reminiscent of Precursor/Gravemind/Flood thought. Both enacted plans which would aid the Flood in the long run, and both had skewed views of the Mantle twisted by their new decrepit state of minds.
If there’s something behind this rampant fragment/whatever this “new” Cortana is, it isn’t Ur-Didact. If anything, it’s the same beings responsible for the downfall of the Ur-Didact: The Flood.

That’s entirely conjecture - there’s no evidence that composed essences go to the Domain. Unless I’m just completely forgetting something important.

You are right I forgot about it that he was composed but how would he have access to the domain unless the Compose Didact was sit there but we don’t know what his fate is right now since these events.
One should also bear in mind that the survival of the Domain is only very, very recent information. Requiem couldn’t connect to the Domain, so I don’t know why the Didact would suddenly know how to get to it or that it was even alive.
Haven’t you noticed that the Cortana in Halo 5 is wearing the Didact’s armor in her new avatar? Also have you noticed that she and the Didact have the exact same goals and views regarding the Mantle of Responsibility? Haven’t you noticed they both said the EXACT same lines word for word vertabrim?
Most importantly I talked about this in my last post but it is inconceivable to me that Cortana would just betray humanity like this of her own free will after ALL she has done to save humanity from being exterminated from the Covenant Flood and Didact.

She wears the insignia of the Mantle on her collar bones - something the Didact never had. She does not wear the Didact’s armor.
And again, you’re missing a big piece - most of Ur-Didact (post-corruption) and and Cortana (post-Halo 2) dialogue is eerily reminiscent of the Flood’s ideologies. The reason they coincide is because they have ONE common denominator: The Flood.

And damn it, 343 better introduce a Gravemind as the puppetmaster of this mess.

I’d honestly be stumped if they don’t at this point. All (star) roads lead to the Precursors/Flood.
I’m not well informed about all the waves of lore post halo 4 in comics, series etc.
But this being in a way kinda of the real history of halo 6 and beyond will in part justify the disappointing history of halo 5.
