I was looking at the new concept art for the infinite multiplayer armor, and I got some ideas for additional customization
Anybody remember detail colors from halo 3? In halo reach multiple campaign characters had this (specifically Emile, Carter, and Jun), and I thought it looked really cool.
Second, It would be cool to be able to display your spartan tag on your chest-plate like the master chief does in Infinite
Thirdly, in halo reach there was EVA and EVA (C), which was the skull version. Something like this might be cool, but for more helmets. I imagine for the gungnir helmet a shark mouth similar to the ones they put on planes in WW2. Only downside to this is that multiplayer would just be a Metal Concert, everyone wearing a skull on their helmet and all.
This one is a bit of a stretch, but maybe you could display your spartan rank symbol on your shoulder as well.
Any other ideas?
I say, the more customization options, the better. I think more color customization across the board would be cool- the ability to individually shade armor pieces on a piece-by-piece basis would give practically endless possible combinations for players to express themselves with. It’s possible that pieces like shoulders/knees could even retain their player designated color during RvB matches to afford a bit more individuality even in that setting (maybe not a great idea, and I’m sure it’d be excluded from ranked playlists, but a cool thought).
Personally, with all the progress 343i has created in the field of visor color options, I think the coolest thing they can do is to have visor color be selectable by the player, from the start, out of a wide selection of solid and gradient tones. I’d also think it would be wicked cool to be able to select visor “texture” (Reclaimer-Era hex/honeycomb patterning on the visor vs the Bungie-Era smooth and shiny) and degrees of wear on the armor sets (I think this one would be coolest to unlock via # of matches/games a certain armor is used-- seeing somebody rep a heavily worn version of an armor would indicate appropriately that they’ve been to hell and back in it.)
All kind of pie-in-the-sky stuff, but I’d be thrilled with implementation for any of it. Assuming, that is, it’s handled in a way that doesn’t at all resemble H5’s lottery lootboxes in the form of REQ packs. Those things are so incredibly gross.

Agreed. I have never minded a lot of customization options. 343i gave us quantity in halo 5, but it was in the wrong place. I prefer to have a few options for a lot of different areas (like in halo 4 and halo reach), instead of a lot of options for only 2 areas
Kiqueburrito, agreed. I think the entirety of H5’s sandbox is a cautionary tale of going too far in all the wrong places while neglecting the fundamentals. The campaign went for insanely showy and epic, but failed to deliver heart and great replayability (and local co-op shudders). The MP went all in on competitive and frantic play with Arena and Warzone, but failed to deliver a great atmosphere for community and fun with a good customs structure (again, no local MP heavily contributes). There’s no true follow up to Firefight or SpOps present, the Forge mode is insane in its scope and scale but tremendously limited in its implementation by the horrific customs structure, etc.
The customization is one of the best examples of 343i completely missing the point. It takes forever to unlock all the cosmetics, which is on paper a good proposition for keeping players hooked for the long haul, but there is absolutely no player input involved aside from pulling the slot machine lever and inserting their money. No player choice, which makes any player expression with H5 armor into dumb luck. I’ve still never gotten the Aviator helmet in H5, after I don’t even want to think about how many attempts via REQ packs. It’s a total joke.
Infinite needs to look at H5’s methods for customization and unlocks as the worst precedent in the series to date for how to do it well.

yeah, in halo: reach you could save your credits for something you like, while in h5 you have a slot machine, you put the money in, spin it, and get nothing you wanted, also the common and legendary was terrible they made it so the cool ones have a higher difficulty to get and are only available through gold packs
You know what I’ve wanted to be a part of Armor Customization, for my Spartan to have a utility belt don’t know how it would fit in the lore or anything but I think would look cool
I hope they return the customization like Halo Reach with making each Spartan unique. I also hope they return the credit system of just playing to unlock stuff.
