When it comes to improvements to Warzone, better vehicle reqs are right up there with more maps and game types for me. Look at all the variety in the weapons. There’s a fuel rod cannon that leaves a pool of toxic goo. There’s a rocket launcher that fires a line of three rockets. There’s a hydra that fires EMP warheads. Rarer, higher level weapons have modifications that make major changes to the way the weapon works.
As for vehicles, there are vehicles with extra armor, a different skin, and . . . maybe a stronger gun on the ghost ultra? Why can’t I have a wraith with a secondary turret that fires needler ammo? Can’t the UNSC modify a gungoose to use plasma or splinter grenades (which, sure, would be tricky to drive)? Where’s a banshee that can drop three or so banshee bombs straight down, like an actual bomber? Things could even be as simple as increasing a ghost’s cruising speed and replacing the speed boost with a jump, like Knight Rider! There are a ton of variables to mess with on vehicle reqs, yet all we get is the same armor and skin for every vehicle.
Wow guys. These suggestions are amazing! I would definitely want to know how this would work and test it out. It would make warzone much more interesting and exciting.
NOOO!!! No more skinned toys!!! Please oh please no more Skinned toys!!! What is wrong with you?! Oh no! Just flat out no!
More toys yes! Halo Wars toys! Halo 2 Toys! Anything but skinned toys!! No I will want to gouge my eyes out if I see more skinned toys! Why not just get the gremlin instead? Ahh please just no more skinned toys!
Stop using that word. You know how it gets me all hot and bothered.
But for serious, there’s not current mechanic built into the game, but marking/spotting enemies could be really cool. I always thought it would be a cool addition to a big-team Halo. For immersion’s (hrrrrrrrrnnnnnnggggg) sake, it could be a function built into the Spartan’s tac-pad, which we see the S-IVs using heavily in this game.
Dee-vine Intervention
“Usually, the good Lord works in mysterious ways. But not today! This here is 66 tons of straight-up, H.E-spewing dee-vine intervention! If God is love, then you can call me ‘Cupid’!”
Mythic REQ level 8 Scorpion modeled after its M808 predecessor from Halo 2, with a machine gun attached to the main turret that can be fired by the driver, immune to boarding, and moves faster. Shells travel faster with increased explosion radius at the cost of a lower rate of fire. Named after one of Sgt. Johnson’s Metropolis Speeches.
Imperial Ghost
“Ghost modelled after the predecessors used by the Covenant Empire. Increased speed, longer boosts, stronger armor, fires faster traveling plasma bolts, and high resistance to kinetic bolts. REQ level 4”
Imperial Wraith
“Wraith modelled after the predecessors used by the Covenant Empire. Wraith with longer boosts and a more powerful mortar, stronger armor, and high resistance to kinetic bolts. REQ level 6.”
Imperial Banshee
“Banshee modelled after the predecessors used by the Covenant Empire. Banshee with longer boost, faster maneuverability, stronger armor, more powerful banshee bomb and high resistance to kinetic bolts. REQ level 6.”

Actually here’s a better idea for the hog passenger, other than something obvious like putting a mini turret there. Let the passenger passenger be able to drain their own shields to recharge the driver’s shields. Maybe melee the driver to transfer a quarter of your shield at a time, or whatever amount would make it balanced. Or instead, maybe give the passenger an enhanced radar so they an tell the driver/gunner where more enemies further away are, which would of course rely on actual communication.

Literally laughed out loud at changing the radio station. Maybe you could pull your trigger and your Spartan could offer safe driving advice.
“Slow down”
“Buckle up”
“Use your blinker”
“No speeding in school zones”

You might be onto something here; although, I’d say give the shields to the gunner. They’re really exposed up there right now.
Unfortunately, though, I don’t see random players doing this for each other. I feel like the warthog is a really good example of a vehicle that just doesn’t work well unless you’re in a party with someone. Randies typically fail really hard with the warthog, and it would be nice to see some design effort made to encouraging players to use it to work as a team.
A warthog that travels faster than a banshee, has the manverbility of a ghost, the armor of a tank, and the chain gun fires out warden eternals instead of bullets

Since there is a gun, but driver the can’t control it, yeah, the warthog is definitely more forced to be a team vehicle than anything else. With tanks, sure, there’s an empty turret, but you have the big gun!
I think there’s two directions to go with warthog reqs, at least as it pertains to them being a team vehicle. Make variants that are better solo, or make variants that encourage awesome teamwork. If you make them a better solo vehicle, say let the driver shoot the turret, though, I feel like it’ll end up being basically a chaingun mongoose most of the time, so I’m not sure I’d want it to go that way. I think since you’ve already got some mobility and offense with the driver and turret, I think it makes some sense to give the passenger some kind of defensive function. Maybe even let their shield cover the whole vehicle so its automatic. You can’t hit the driver or gunner until the warthog’s shield is down, and when it goes down, that was the passenger’s shield so they’re vulnerable too.
Or if you just want the passenger to be able to blow stuff up, let them drop and remote detonate mines. Push a button to drop one, then switch their radar to the area around the mine, push the button again to blow it up. Even if they just EMP things to dissuade any pursuing vehicles, that’d be pretty fun.
Or maybe let the passenger turn around and blow on the turret when it overheats?
A Mantis with jump jets so maybe it could jump really high?
Maybe a Scorpion with a railgun for a cannon? A banshee that fires EMP bombs? A warthog with an OP, armour piercing, slow firing 50.cal turret. Transport warthog maybe?
Hell i’d love a Falcon especially since all the other air vehicles seem to be only used by 1 player. A falcon would bring more teamwork.
Thing is it’s if 343 can and want to create new models or add to existing models in order to make these cool things. It’s easy to just slap a skin on an existing warthog, give it some buffed stats and boom! New Warthog Req! The Urban, Forest and Artic camo warthogs were rushed. They even have the same skin just in a different colour. Hopefully now 343 however has the time to start adding some cool awesome stuff though.

Unlimited grenades for the passenger could be cool. They did that for the mongoose passenger.
Also, on the shield thing, what about a warthog with energy shields that are as strong as its cumulative passenger shields? In other words, just having a passenger makes the warthog more resistant to damage.

Could you imagine if it included the armor mods, and someone had auto medic and someone else had advanced shields? And if they chose to spawn with overshields too? That could get crazy!

Maybe even give them a passenger-side brake pedal, like in a driver’s ed car!
I’d like up-armored hogs to maybe have an enhanced gun shield and more survivability for the gunner. I would trade this off in two ways. 1) larger gun shield, less damage taken by gunner from the front or where shield faces. 2) extra armor would ad weight to the hog, and it would be slower than normal variants. 3) overall health of the hog would not change, just the damage taken by the gunner.
