MORE CR FOR THOSE WHO STILL PLAY

Ok,let’s face it. Reach is dying. I am a loyal Halo player, I STILL play Reach after being reset two times for BS flaws in Bungie’s game. Yesterday there was 9,000 people online. It’s sad. The new updates are great, however it’s too late to save. Even my most loyal teammates have moved on to MW3. So 343, for the very, very few of us who stuck with Reach, give us more cR. When you need 2million+ to rank up, 2,000cR challenges are pointless. It’s pretty sad when even if they had a 2MILLIONcR weekly challenge, most people still wouldn’t even be halfway to Inheritor…

Don’t give us more Cr, just remove this frigging cap so we can play at our own pace and not Bungie’s pace.

Custom challenges should help along with increased payouts and an increased cR cap.

I played yesterday and the highest that I’ve seen yesterday was around 68,900. You might be experiencing a server glitch like me. Even though it says 9,000 or even 0 people on reach, they’re are still people on Reach.

I do like the Custom Challenges. But still… and I don’t have time to play all day and reach the cap every day. =(

so how much is the Cr cap?

Part of the problem now may be the frequency with which people have trouble with their online system. I’ve had trouble joining friends lately. Sometimes I get the message that the Reach server isn’t available. I’ve seen loading hang for a long time, in multiple games. Nothing consistent, but on a fairy regular basis there are problems. Problems encourage people to do something else. The credit cap discourages some people from playing once they reach the limit.

> so how much is the Cr cap?

120K, same as it’s always been.

> When you need 2million+ to rank up, 2,000cR challenges are pointless. It’s pretty sad when even if they had a 2MILLIONcR weekly challenge, most people still wouldn’t even be halfway to Inheritor…

Well as someone who just hit Inheritor this weekend I really have to take exception to this. It’s not so much the poor Daily Challenge payout that is the issue, though let’s face facts there are troubles with them! Look at today’s challenges as an example – 1500 for getting 100 kills with a precision weapon in MM? Really? So 100 kills with a DMR is worth 1500 … but 150 kills in MM with ANY weapon is worth 5500??

If you want to talk about problems - THERE it is! On Sunday, the day after I hit Inheritor, I had to laugh at one of the Daily Challenges … 4 grenade kills in a single MM game for … 500 cR. No, that is no typo … it was actually 500 cR for killing 4 people with grenades. And yesterday we had a campaign mission challenge worth 2000 (or more - can’t recall exact number right off the top of my head) on Heroic with Catch skull on. But today for 1500 it’s the SAME challenge except with CLOUD and FAMINE.

Yes - the payouts suck - agreed. If all you do is work to get the Daily and/or Weekly then it will take you a while to hit the upper ranks earning about 20-30k per day (not counting Weekly challenges). But a friend of mine who started playing Reach on 04-03-11 is closing in on Reclaimer and has almost exactly HALF the Daily challenges done as I do (768 for him - 1538 for me) and less than half the Weekly challenges done (24 for him - 53 for me). He’s played about 450 fewer games than me and yet basically has only to earn another 4-million cR to get to the level I am at.

So he is proof that you can do it - you can be a high rank without the Daily or Weekly challenge payouts. I’d say 800k left to earn until hitting Reclaimer makes him a high rank … wouldn’t most of you?

But the real issue with the Daily Challenges is the inconsistency - not the payout, even though in recent days the payouts have been pathetic! Most people who are not “challenge whores” like I was complained about the inconsistency in payouts more than the actual payouts themselves. A classic example was always this:

Several weeks ago we had a Pod Kettle Black challenge – destroy the Elite drop pods on LNoS. This challenge in fact came up TWICE within the span of a week or so. But for destroying 10 one week it was something like 1500 and then for destroying 20 a while later the amount only went up slightly, like to 1700. Most people I talked to from the old Bungie forums and a few from here complained about the same thing after many postings on both forums about the inconsistency.

Today’s challenges are just another clear example of why so many people just stop doing them. Oh sure you get some who say “for the pathetic amount they give for [insert challenge here] I can earn 2-3 times that in a 15-minute game of Firefight Arcade” to this day, and they are right. But they also don’t count up how many games it might take to get them and factor in those cR as well.

Now for someone like me, the current Support Structure challenge – 30 assists in FF – is a piece of cake. I helped a friend last week get his in one round of FF Doubles doing Arcadefight on Corvette, while a different friend helped me get mine in the 2nd wave of the Cloud round (2 rounds already gone). So depending on whom you are playing with, some challenges can be easy. The extra 2250 will be nothing really when you look at it for what basically is one game of FF. But for some who don’t have capable friends and don’t like using the Grenade Launcher, it may take 5-10 games to get this challenge. In the meantime they’ve earned anywhere from 4k to as much as possibly 8k per game in addition to the daily challenge … so it’s more worth it.

What 343 needs to do is make the payouts consistent … and higher. But the biggest thing to get people back to playing and seeking them … make them consistent and weighted for the ease or toughness of them rather than some arbitrary worth thrown out randomly that seems to change from day to day … or even from challenge to challenge on any given day.

Play the game enough and you will rank up.

Edit: Kinda went off but i’ll just leave that still there.

> Play the game enough and you will rank up.

I echo this … and add that people who want to rank up then play games that earn them a lot of credits - such as Firefight Arcade (or FF Doubles Arcadefight) and Invasion. And be sure to work on your Commendations and don’t always go into FF Arcade and take the Recon loadout, commit suicide, pick Air Assault loadout, and discard your Needler for the Rocket Launcher you just dropped. Constantly being a “points -Yoink!-” by spamming the Rocket Launcher and FRC won’t get you to Inheritor fast - but getting several of your commendations to Onyx will. The constant hard work on headshots, AR kills, pistol kills or kills using a vehicle do add up over time and look good when your commendations are nearly all in the black … not just your Heavy Weapons!

a few weeks ago, the pay-outs were higher. I remember there being a few that were around 10k for daily challenges. i just play if I get the challenges, good, if not, that’s fine too. Trying to get your commos maxed out is a higher payout than a daily challenge anyway. Arent they around 10K total? i think they keeping the pay-outs low because it is to encourage you to set-up customs.

Currently, i am using two challenges that payout 20k every three hours and i am getting my normal cR amounts for playing away.
To agree with Mr. Tsujen, just play the game and it will come.

500cR for 4 nade kills me made LOLZ!!!

And Tsujen, I remember you from Bungie forums. I don’t know why you hate me.

Nope, it’s been risen.

Not hating on you, I would have said this to any one posting this. I just feel like giving more cR isn’t going to change anything in the game, the population is dying yeah but Reach still gets 300k-500k players every day that’s not really dead to me. What’s the difference between ranking up 7 months ago when the population was higher and now? Nothing you’re still ranking up the exact same way, they just beefed up the challenges to give you guys more cR and now you want more? I’m sure even if they raised the challenge cR again people would complain it’s still not enough.

Not every one is ever going to get to the highest rank and that’s how it’s meant to be, probably 1% of the people who have played reach will ever reach Inheritor, it’s just how it is. If you really want to rank up faster than play more, if you need 2,000,000 to rank up then playing one more game a day will equal the same amount of cR you would have gotten with higher challenge payouts. I used to play 5-7 hours a day hitting the cap every day from mythic - Inheritor because I liked the game and I wanted to rank up faster. Think about how we felt back than when the challenges were 1/2 of that they are now. I don’t think challenges were meant to help you rank up fast but more of a bonus for doing things you would have already done in the game.

300-500k a day?!?!!?!?!?

O___o

I’d have to see some numbers. I know the population counter is wrong, but I haven’t seen it over 95k in a LONG time.

The counter you see when you log into reach is the number of players online right this moment. But there’s also a counter on bungie.net which shows you unique user for the whole day (24hour period), and reach has about 300k-500k (more on weekends, holidays etc.) who play it daily.

I think the numbers is total unique user in 24 hours in all game modes

In a topic that Skytag made he still hit the 120k CR limit for today 12/7/11.

I feel you man, I couldn’t save my last 2 Halo Teammates from leaving Halo Reach, now all of my Halo friends are gone! I promised them Reach would be better which it really is compared to when it was released, BUT they have completely abandoned Reach and are now MW3 players…and to be honest I too am starting to pack up bags and leave Reach for good. But I’m still a Halo player at heart and will NEVER switch to a COD game EVER! but I will play Gears 3, and the only real Halo left on XBL Halo3!

Here is a Link on what should be done about the Credit System and I totally agree with this guy, click on the link between the arrows. I give you MLG Pro Bad@zz Ninja…enjoy!

---->Reach’s Credit System<----

I love the GOW/COD campaigns, but for MM I’m Halo. I like Red vs. Blue, and everybody starting with the same weapons. Reach messed that up. I still like Reach better than other games, but I might have to move on since it’s not near as fun when none of your friends play… =’(
