I would like to see more covenant maps like taking place on High charity ( infected or non infected) or a super carrier ship let me know what you think do you want more covenant maps this time ? last game was so forerunner focused.
I think maps should primarily play and flow individual and fantastic and not simply look individual and fantastic.
So, I would like to see more maps with unique and great constructional themes and hence with unique and great gameplay. If the map has a Forerunner paint or a Covenant paint doesn’t really bother me, since it has no impact on how the map plays and flows. Nonetheless the aesthetical theme should be appealing as well and it should have a relation to the construction.
Covenant map idea:
I think a vertical theme would fit. Splitting the map into several level, implementing gravitation elements (gravlifts, gravity fields, etc.) to connect these levels by lifting you up or by slowing you down when falling, creating generouse voids for vertical relations or small wells, etc. I don’t want to go too much into detail.
And I think a map with such a constructional theme would fit quite well into the wreck of a Covenant carrier.
I don’t want any two maps to share the same theme. Halo 4 was essentially half human city half Forerunner architecture.
I want to see…
Covy Ship. (Midship)
Human Ship (Orbital)
Covy City (Damnation is about the closest thing)
Human City (Terminal, Headlong, Turf)
Forerunner Ship (Shutdown in the Halo 4 campaign)
Forerunner City (basically any section of the Halo 4 campaign)
Forerunner ruins (Something similar to Sanctuary or anything on Delta Halo)
Ancient Human ruins (old human stuff lol)
Forerunner Swamp (Backwash)
Winter ancient Forerunner (Containment)
Human or Forerunner beach (Zanzibar or High Ground)
I just want varying themes among the map list in Halo 5. Halo 2 did an amazing job with this. Halo 3 did an pretty good job with this too. Is it really that much to ask for pretty decent mp maps with a large variety of themes? This is a science fiction game, their is no excuse to not have vast amounts of map themes. I want more than human or forerunner levels with basic architecture, blue sky, and green grass.

Goodness no. Assembly was probably my least favorite map from Halo 3 excluding Snowbound. I’d rather we not get something along those lines.

Assembly has a really nice theme(which is what their thread is all about). I don’t think anyone here is talking about the actual gameplay Assembly offered. Just the look of the map.

I actucllay liked Assembly compared to isolation ugh.
The fact that there are no Covenant themed maps in Halo 4 especially since Halo 4’s multiplayer is supposed to be a training simulator for Spartan-IVs makes no sense. From a canon standpoint we have a map set on Harvest a UNSC planet that was glassed 33 years prior. How is that useful for training and yet the main faction the UNSC is fighting after the war the Covenant Remnant has no themed maps(at least that we have access to)?
Look, I have no problem with maps like Harvest, the fact that its supposed to be a simulation means that we can have maps set anywhere or at anytime! And yet in Halo 4 what do we have? UNSC bases, Requiem sites and UNSC bases on Requiem. Wow such variety! You have the entirey of the Halo universe at your disposal and all we get are the same tired themes of Halo 4 era UNSC bases and Requiem locations? Come on now.
As for Covenant maps why not something on board High Charity? Or the Unyielding Hierophant? Or Sanghelios? The possibilities are endless!

To 343’s defence, the fact that War Games are supposed to be part of a combat simulator used for training Spartan IV’s, the lack of themes actually makes sense. That being said they didn’t include any maps on board the Infinity. Why wouldn’t the UNSC want to train their Spartans how to defend their flagship in the case that it gets invaded (this did happen by the way)?
As far as the multiplayer maps go (and the game as a consumer product) it would be in 343’s best interest to offer a variety of maps (aesthetics & gameplay). I was fairly disappointed in the lack of urban and covy themed maps.
