More Concrete Evidence of the Jetpack

There has been a lot of speculation in regards to the inclusion of the jetpack in Halo 4. A leaked video clip alleged to show it in action, but there has been no official info from 343i.
…or has there? o.O

The jetpack is clearly visible and in-use at the 1:08 mark in the Halo 4 Spartan Ops Gameplay video on the Halo Waypoint YouTube channel:

Here’s a screenshot for those who want a simpler look:

You can also see the thruster pack in the same shot, which tells us that one has not replaced the other.

That is the E3 build. Anything could have changed between then and the final game.

If it’s in the final game, I will just look at it and make the daring move not to use it.

There are people who didn’t know this?

Yikes.

Personally, I’m inclined to believe it’ll be Spartan Ops-specific.

I’m fine with the jetpack in Halo 4 as long as it stays out of the matchmaking or War Games, whatever they’re calling it now.

I agree with it being in SpartanOps, but not in War Games/Matchmaking. It’s annoying and stupid, and frankly I’m tired of hearing it all the time in my ear whilst playing. The panting from Sprint is bad enough…

You’d be surprised to see how many people who actually follow the news don’t even know some basic Halo 4 gameplay elements.
And it happens everywhere, not just on these forums.

I really hope this isn’t in matchmaking.

At the pic, the guy using the thrust pack to go up that thing, I really like what they did there, not only is he not just clipping through it… He’s dragging his butt up there, LITERALLY!

I was never really bothered by the jetpack. It just makes people a target who can only go up or down.

Personally, I hope it’s kept in matchmaking.

I will make a map and gametype that’s simply just a HUMONGOUS ramp and you have infinite thrust pack, the the challenge is to do the butt crawl with the thrust pack all the way up the ramp and make the jump and whoever goes the farthest wins!

Im hoping that its only available in Spops and customs.

DUDE! Screw spops and customs, think of the bigger picture …If this gets big and put into the right hands… Butt Crawl: The game.

I hope its in, but not in matchmaking.

I agree with most, jet-pack should not be in matchmaking. In Halo Reach certain maps are dominated by Jet pack and you are doing yourself a disservice by not choosing it. I don’t see how Jet pack can be balanced unless it only provides vertical escape-not being able to shoot and fly simultaneously.

I’m pretty sure jet pack will only be a campaign, SO, and custom games thing. Hardcore war games won’t use it as much. I think the new jet pack will be treated like the armour lock is treated now in reach matchmaking. (rebalanced and only in social games).

I’d praise 343 for putting it on Spops and Campaign only. Though I am interested in seeing what changes have been made if going in Mp. Not excited to see it all tbh…

JP and camo are 2 biggies that still leave the community very skeptical…

Could be just like the power ups in Reach, only available in Forge & Custom Games (Overshield, Camo, Custom).

Well, that was the case before the Anniversary maps & settings were released.

Time will tell.

True, but it makes it ridiculously hard to headshot, thus leaving you having to empty an entire clip to kill them, meanwhile they can headshot you from above much easier. It also slows gameplay down tremendously. I would love to see it gone, personally. We had it in Reach, it was cool for a bit because it was new. Now that the novelty has worn off, get it the heck out of Halo, please!

The reason the jetpack was overpowered in Reach was because the height advantage also instantly gave the player an almost certain grenade kill simply from classic halo height advantage or sometimes headshot simply because of the time it takes a player to aim their reticle that high. Other than that it was an easy kill off a jetpacker. An extremely easy way to solve this problem would be lower the maximum height of the jetpacks lift and make it more comparable to halo 3 jumpack or remove a players ability to grenade or use their hip fire reticle while using a jetpack. if one of these balancing options were implemented I feel players would have no problem with the jetpack in competitive multiplayer.
