More Challenge accessibility would make them more fun

Having access to only 3 or 4 challenges at a time is pretty ridiculous. This is why people feel forced into game modes instead playing more comprehensively. With only a few challenges available you feel very obligated to complete challenges so that you can knock out the easy ones and focus on the hard one that may take a while. And it’s very frustrating being stuck on a challenge because you know there are more after it you have to do.

This is why all challenges should be available from the get go. This way the first few days of new challenges you will feel very free to play and you know as you play many challenges will get knocked out through natural gameplay. Only towards the last few challenges remaining will make you feel obligated to play specifics to complete them, instead of every match.

There should also be two basic challenges one that is unique and the other progressive. So one is like “Get 1 neediler kill” and the other is like “Get 5 melee kills.” The needlier challenge completes when you do it but the other challenge progresses to 10 melee kills after its complete. Because it wouldn’t make sense to have two separate challenges available asking you to do the same thing.

People buy the battle pass for the cosmetics, the one extra challenge available is not worth the battle pass. Limiting challenges as a way to incentivize the battle pass is killing the game especially since it doesn’t even unlock all the challenges.

What isn’t anyone commenting on this post? This is a great remedy to the current challenge problem.

No one buys those. And honestly cosmetic and content are the only reasons anyone buys anything. And yes I know you’re joking. Thanks for the reply.

To be honest I would just swap the whole system to be score based.

The idea is to encourage people to play daily, to try new modes, and to not quit. And also to have some incentive to buy challenges / swaps.

So I would put the weekly reward behind a large cumulative score for the week. I don’t know what would be appropriate? 150,000? Maybe more…

Anyway.

Encourage good team play by adding a multiplier for winning. It could be something like 1.25.

Add another multiplier for consecutive games. Start it at 1.0 and add 0.05 for each completed game. Up to a max (eg. 1.25). If you quit a match it drops back to 1. And if you quit a ranked match it drops back to 0.75. But the idea is that you are rewarded for finishing the match.

You can encourage daily play by having a similar multiplier that goes up for consecutive days played. Start at 1 and go up by 0.05 per day for the week. That would put you at 1.30 by the last day if you play every day that week.

To get players to dip their feet into multiple modes have a bonus for the first game played in any mode for that day. Say another 0.1

And in the same way, if you want to encourage people to play events, make them double, or even triple points. And your event items can still be locked to that event by using XP earned in that mode.

Challenges could evolve into a daily, or even, weekly one off bonuses. eg. Get five assists for extra points. Because they are now optional you can make them harder or more game specific (and thus bring back swaps for those that are keen).

I would even go further and make the challenges something you actually purchase and use to get bonus XP in a game (that you choose).

eg. Headshot challenge; get 5 headshots in one game for a 1.25 bonus. 10 for a 1.5 bonus. And 15 or more for a 1.75 bonus.

The important bit is that you have the challenge and decide which game to apply it to. You could sell more challenges / swaps as needed. You could even go overboard and let players apply up to three challenges simultaneously to any one game.

In the end there would be a lot of multipliers in play - so you need to have a suitable weekly target. But people seem to like seeing animations of numbers and bonuses being applied (like every mobile game on the market right now).

You could even have tiered rewards at the end of the week. Get 150,000 points for the name plate. 200,000 for the weapon coating. 500,000 for the armour coating, etc.

Sounds like a great idea. Maybe 343 should hire you. This stuff isn’t hard to figure out if you actually play the game. Seems like nearly anything is better than what they are currently doing.
