More base defense options are a must

In the original Halo Wars, our only base defense options were turrets, and a shield for the Covanant. As a result, when your base was attacked, the enemy usually went for your turrets, which were relatively easy to take out, and your base was left defenseless. At this point your only hope was that your units would be enough to fight them off. Of course, if your units were Scorpions, or pretty much anything that didn’t fly, you would have a very difficult time getting your units in place to fight the enemy off. Which leads me to my point… We need more diverse, and more importantly more effective base defense options. Below i’ve put some of my ideas.

-Wall: Builds up a wall completely surrounding your base. The more you upgrade it, the thicker and taller it gets. Would only defend against ground units, however the final upgrade will make the wall tall enough to keep air units out as well.
-Armor Plating: Once an individual building is completed, the menu for that building will give you the option to add armor, the base armor would add something like +20% hit points, and you could upgrade it all the way to +100%.
-Garrison-able Sniper Towers: There would be several of these directly surrounding your base, and you would be able to garrison troops in the towers to provide extra defense on top of your turrets.

I agree for the most part, but I don’t see how a wall can be built high enough to block air units. I think walls should be garrisonable as well as buildble sniper towers instead of being given pre-built towers.

I think it is time to step it up and let me put bases, towers, and walls wherever I want

How bout we get rid of bases and have a battle system like Wargame and Men of War Series. Men of war would actually fit best for the halo series honestly

Agreed. Your cut off from the UNSC, don’t know when you will be back in their space, you have limited resources and your fighting an enemy. Firebases seems like a waste of limited resources that you can’t afford to use all the time. Personally there should be a couple more levels like the first level in HW where you have a certain amount of armament and units and have to use them only, you might get reinforces get some units dropped here and there like John got in the games but you shouldn’t be able to make a full armament of tanks, you have to manage your resources to last decades to get back home

I agree, I also think they should further upgrade marines, you could have sniper marines, AR marines, rocket marines etc. As well as your upgrades like new blood and odst.

This will depend on how bases are built in Halo Wars 2. If it’s like Halo Wars, then I think most of these are unlikely. If it’s more like Age of Empires or Command & Conquer, then we can indeed have a lot more variations. We’ll have to wait and see until we see the first gameplay footage (which will probably be at E3 2016)

I bet we’ll get some gameplay footage with the release of Halo 5.
