Monthly KDRS

I’ll admit it. Reach was my first Halo game that I owned, and for the first two months of playing it (I got it about 2 weeks after release), I was terrible. My main armour ability was Jetpack, and I used it 100% of the time. I was amazed when I got double kills. Then in christmas I got Blops, and played that for about two months, and when I realised it was the same game as the Modern Warfare 2 I was already bored with, I had now gone three months without Reach, and whatever skill I had was completely wiped out.

So I had to relearn how to play all over again, but by now Reach was the main game that I played, aside was spells with TDU2, SRT3, Forza 4, etc, and I was getting better. Even Minecraft for Xbox didn’t overtake Reach for me. These days, I go 1.5 around 90% of the time, and I am a better player that those first few months, but the stats for back then affect my KDR now.

So my point is this, in Halo 4, I think you shoud be able to see people’s monthly KDR as well as overall KDR. This would curb the vast amount of backup accounts, and give you a more accurate representation of how good the player is at that point in time.

I agree. Your beautiful story also brought a tear to my eye. You should sell the movie rights.

Sorry about the long-winded story, but it was to get a point across.

overall seems fine. Monthly would only promote bad players to pad stats in modes like griffball and team objective even more because they want to get a better ratio than the previous month.

They will still be bad players when put against real competition but it would just make the quality of the game even worse for everyone getting stuck with players that care more about the numbers than actually playing the game.

I’d like this. With the lack of skill rank (H3 1-50), KDR is the only real representation of skill. And this, as displayed by your experiences, isn’t even accurate.

Fair point, and I think only slayer gamemodes should count toward your KDR to be honest. But speaking of getting a better ratio than the previous month, it gives you something to work toward when you’re at SR-50 with all specialisations doesn’t it? And loads of people make new accounts after having experiences like mine…

I think a feature that tracks your k/d as of certain dates would be interesting. But as someone who usually tries to win games rather than just go for kills I know that k/d is not a 100% indication of skill. I’d want to see win/loss over time too.

Halo reach was my first Halo to

But it’s no representation of skill

True. I use it more of an indicator, rather than a representation. If someone is 0.8, and someone’s 1.4, it’d be reasonable to assume the latter is a more effective slayer.

Most of the time you want to investigate further by looking at recent games specifically in playlists with objective gametypes to see if he’s farming

Agree and disagree with that, you can’t judge a player solely by their KDR, and should see their general win/loss too, it shows how good you are at general slayer, and you can’t win a game without killing the other team (on Halo anyway, I doubt my classmates in PE would agree in real life)

EDIT

Also, you should only get a KDR in slayer gametypes, in Capture the Flag , you’re supposed to Capture the Flag, not farm kills. Killing the flag carrier is important, capping their flag, moreso.

No. Just no.

I dunno about K/D, but one thing I didn’t like about Halo 3 was that I got to brigadier and then started playing other games for a while, and when I came back to halo 3 I was pretty trashy again yet still got matched with high ranked players who expected better of me. I’m not sure what the ranking situation is in Halo 4, but if it’s similar to 3 maybe there’s a good idea for a solution to that problem.

I sucked at halo but got good but from the days I sucked I cant get it up so I agree a monthly thing would be great

Halotracker already does this.

Fair point

I really like this idea. Also, K/D is the most accurate representation of personal skill IF K/D in individual playlists is shown. If you have a high K/D in Team Slayer, you are a good player, if you have a high W/L in Team Slayer on the other hand, it could just mean you play with good people on a regular basis.

Not a bad idea. I like it. Too bad the game has gone gold. Maybe they can add that feature in post launch.
