Personally, I think this is the biggest over-reaction for ANYTHING 343 has done in this -Yoink- community. Paying $10 for a mythic is fine, but the people they seem to be moaning are the ones that either don’t have any mythics yet or the ones that wouldn’t ever unlock any mythics anyway. I’ve put alot of time into Halo 5 and I have everything, I’m not crying about it. The game is almost a year old and yet these ‘hardcore’ fans claim to be disgraced, if you don’t have mythics yet, what are you doing?
As a community, we need to focus on more pressing matters, like having Chief the main playable character in Halo 6, or getting full customization or even getting a full game at launch. Not fighting a system that prevents paid DLC and gives us a steady stream of content.
Yes. Massive overreaction. But only because many here want to see the REQ system removed so they will overhype problems to make it seem like more of an issue than it is hoping that will result in the change wanted.

Is this a serious post? Firstly, you’re actually complaining about other people having opinions different to yours on a forum? Did you expect everyone to agree with you then? Lol!
Secondly, I’m level 149 and don’t like these packs. So it’s not just the ones who don’t have the Mythics, I’ve had every weapon in the game for months. The reason I don’t like these packs is that there will be people spamming Prophet’s Banes all over the place. It’s an extremely powerful weapon and I think that Warzone will suck if you have too many people surprising you out of nowhere. You have permanent camo, so can easily sneak up on vehicles too and take them out. Trust me, it’ll get old when you spawn your shiny new Hannibal Mantis, and an enemy who’s been camping outside your base with a PB jumps on you and blows you up before you’ve fired a shot.
The Prophet’s Bane, and other weapons like it, should be rare and hard to get. And now people can buy them, it’s really well into pay to win territory. Pay to gain a huge advantage at the very least.
Lastly - you consider customization one of the most pressing matters in the game? Lol ok…
Exactly, it really amuses me the way every little issue people have with the game gets made into an overblown drama. Honestly people, build a bridge and get over it. Why get so upset?
“I had to grind and grind to get my Prophets Bane. It’s not fair if people can just buy them.”
Really? You got yours for free just by playing. And did you really grind? Surely you would have been playing anyway, regardless of whether you wanted to unlock a specific item? If you aren’t playing because you enjoy it, why would you care about REQs anyway?
And how is it relevant how other players get their gear?
I go to work to earn a living. There are people who never had to work for their money because their family is rich. Do I make a whole big deal about how unfair it is, and that they don’t deserve it? No I don’t, because those people not having to work for a living is irrelevant to me. If I want money I have to earn it, that’s life.
I agree with the OP, the only way that this whole issue has any relevance to me is that the people who pay for these REQ packs are helping provide me with more free updates and content. Fantastic.

I’m glad to see someone knows the difference between pay to win and pay for an advantage.
To he completely honest, this is one of the big issues we need to focus on. This is the deliberate injection of more and more intrusive microtransactions into a game that doesn’t need them.
If Halo 5 has shown us anything, it’s that this system only provides us with the content 343 didn’t put in at the start. If we were getting actual new content, I’d be 100% fine with it. The sad reality is that that’s not the case. Most, if not all, of the content we’ve received is just them re-addding everything from the past and more useless REQ filler like armors with various white stripes all over them and the same maps with a few changes.
If they keep this “free” dlc system for Halo 6, it better actual new content that has never been in Halo before. The current system is a steady stream of low quality content that kids straight out of college can do in a couple days. I want high quality content that’s made by professionals.

Agreed.
Though considering the “professionals” didn’t make very good developer made maps…I’m ok with people trying to do something better in Forge.

The term is used mostly for an advantage in the first place. The term has been used this way since its inception. Stop acting like it is not.

Yeah, it’s truly sad that the community can create better maps with a map editor than the actual developers of the game who have access to development tools.

I’m sad to see that you have made a post that shows clearly that you don’t know what the phrase “pay to win” means. Hint: It doesn’t literally mean that you pay for a win.

They are the same thing. “Pay-to-Win” is a model, not an exact thing. If you are paying for an advantage then it is well within the “Pay-to-Win” microtransaction system. There are few games that are actually strait up paying to guarantee the win. It is almost always “pay for an advantage” and that is exactly what this is.
Hello everybody, I’m your host Killer Keemstar! Let’s… Get roight into the noose!
On of the burning and huge topics has got to do with halo 5, I’m sure most of you know about this game and all of the controversy around it. But, this topic is about the pay to win month, also known as mythic month, concerning the prophets bane req pack and how it is the last straw for the micro transactions in halo. Most of the waypoint threads now are about this topic and how bad it is for halo 5.
Or…
Hey, what’s up guys, it’s Scarce here, and we have a massive story here concerning halo 5. I’m sure most of you have heard of it, it roughly has over 5 million purchases and this topic just spread like wildfire, alright guys? Now, this all started on a post on Twitter about the month of mythic req packs and how pay to win it truly is. Most threads on halo waypoint are now circling around this and how game breaking it is…
The outrage is because it’s not halo. It’s because 343i and Microsoft’s priorities are Req packs and MONEY not providing fans with a complete game that is fun to play. It feels like Halo is Microsoft’s Piñata and they are beating it for candy but they don’t realise they are killing it in the process.
I’ve played about a dozen Warzone games since the pack was added. You know how many people I saw using a Prophets Bane in that time? One. Oh the humanity! Where are all these PB spammers I keep hearing about??
