Since all of Halo 4’s Multiplayer experience takes place aboard the UNSC Infinity, including Forge Mode, will there be Monitors? In past Halos, Forge was this fictional, unrealistic (for the Halo Universe) mode where Spartans could magically shape-shift into the Monitors that inhabit the Halo rings, and then simply create pieces of matter out of nowhere. If Forge mode on the UNSC Infinity is supposed to be some sort of program that prepares new practice environments and training areas for the Spartan IV’s on board, I don’t think the Monitors will come into play. That would just be a little bit weird, don’t you think? How do you think Forging will work? Will you just be an invisible, invulnerable entity instead of a Monitor? That would be nice, since I hate dying in Monitor mode. Thoughts?
TBH the monitor always seemed like an inefective way of forging anyway. It takes a few hours just to set up spawn points. While in editors like FC2’s it takes a few minutes.
Maybe they will debut a new UNSC AI construct, an analog for the monitors of the Halo installations.
The monitors made a lot of sense in previous Halos, because a lot of maps took place on the Halo Rings, which the monitors watch over.

Agreed, although I’ve never actually used FC2’s map editor. I understand basically how it works, and I feel like that would be a good thing for Forge. Hopefully if 343 implemented something like that, there would be a good way to become a Spartan and quickly test things. Probably something on the pause menu like “Test Map from Spawn Point” or “Test Map from Cursor”, where you become a Spartan either at the spawn or where you’re currently looking as this “map-editing software” for lack of a better term. I can see something like this being used in Halo 4.

^What I thought. But I love playing slayer on forge against my stupid friend and forging while he spawns banshees and kills me and stuff. Hopefully Spartan-Monitor switching will still be possible.
WUT?! NOT USING MONITORS IN FORGE BUT INSTEAD USING AN INVISIBLE ENTITY LIKE THE FAR CRY 2 MAP EDITOR?!
That’s it; this game is turning into Far Cry 2.
