Mongoose kills...

i am a commendation hunter, you could say and, this game has been out roughly half a year, in that time i have played, alot, i mean alot, and in that time my Mongoose kill commendation is on
[1/5] Proficient
4/10 kills

in half a year i maybe have roughly 10 mongoose kills, so at that rate i’ll likely get that one done in around 10 years time of playing

any hints, tricks or guides to help make this easier, has anyone found a way around this commendation yet?

I’m just gonna’ get a full lobby of friends and play BTB.
I’ll also tell everyone to use Mongoose as much as possible.
But actually use it, not intending to go out and die!
That way, it’s not boosting.

Also, once Objective gametypes are introduced into BTB, it’ll be much easier.
I won’t even need friends to help.

There is no easy way to get this up because

  1. Getting on a mongoose is generally suicide, unless you are driving a flag carrier, so people don’t do it often
  2. You have to destroy the mongoose in order to get the commendation to go up. This means some form of explosive needs to be used, not just shooting people off mongoose.

Boosting is really the only way to get it in any reasonable amount of time. Maybe play BTB and kill them with Tank/Mantis/Banshee/Laser/Sticky but even those are rare.

Little buggers are like trying to find a Unicorn in a petting zoo.

If you ever get the chance/choice between blowing up the Warthog or Mongoose, take the second. Even though they’re an endangered species I don’t feel to bad about it. . . . .

How are your Weapons Commendations going?

I’ve mastered all but five, those being the following:

  • Boltshot
  • Plasma Pistol
  • Pulse Grenade
  • Concussion Rifle

I’ll be so excited once I’ve unlocked Protector DRFT.

I hear ya. I’m not sure what is harder to master this or plasma pistol kills.

I respect Mongoose drivers.
It’s a pain in the rear to obtain that commie.

It be nice if we had special play lists where we have to fight a certain way like an all pistols fight, an all rifles fight, or kind of fun but not really needed for getting commendations an all grenade fight. For most other things there is all ready a play list.

I’ve killed more Mongooses in the small time I’ve gone back to Halo 3 than the four or so months I played Halo 4.

ive only been able to get 4. all in the mantis on meltdown.

its so hard to kill the mongoose before the person driving it.

They really just need to bring back Rocket Race from Reach just for this commendation. The mode itself was pretty fun and relaxing despite not really being “Halo” and adding an easier way to get this commendation would just be icing on the cake.

Another alternative would be to code Elites in future Spartan Ops episodes to use a Mongoose.

I absolutely loved Rocket Race. It was pretty much all I played the last couple months of Reach and friends who weren’t into Reach at all had a blast with it. I was legit sad to find out Race wasn’t even a gametype in this game :confused:

Is it possible to make it with KotH settings? I know the custom game options in this game are lacking so I don’t know if it’s possible

Well at least you have control of the PP by being able to equip one and get kills with it. Unfortunately you can’t just shoot an unoccupied mongoose and get a kill, and there are very few reasons to use them in many of the current playlists. >=/

also yeah, gametype commendations, such as victorys are easily possible, just take a while
i have
Weapons Completed
Player Completed
enemies, no bother
gametypes, will just take a while

but mongoose seems to be my only issue, i’ll be stuck on 99% commendations with that
whoever suggested Rocket race multiteam with mongoose it would seem like the best way to go

I almost have it done, the key is to get about 5,000 mongoose splatters and then throw stickies at whoever hijacks you off the goose. It really is an easy accommodation.
