So the Covie vehicles have a “boost” function which you can hold and it makes you go faster. I was thinking that the Mongoose should have something similar, but a little different. What if the Mongoose had a NOS? (Nitrous Oxide System)
Instead of continually holding down the button to go faster, you would just press it once and it would make you go faster for a short duration of time at the cost of maneuverability? The Mongoose would still maintain its role, but it would be slightly more useful in objective situations.

I could see that. It would be similar to ‘punching it’ and would certainly aid in jumps and evading larger vehicles. I’ve always wondered why the Mongoose, with less mass than the Warthog, barely be able to surpass its speed.

Less powerful engine after all the engine would have to be stronger to have that mass and the mongoose’s engine has to be weaker to produce less noise. Though I agree it should be faster.
OT: I’d like it but it should make the mongoose produce more noise thus adding a gameplay effect to the stealthy vehicles canon.
With the NOS it could also make splattering on the Mongoose a more viable strategy, since the Mongoose doesn’t have any other means of defending itself. It is still not meant to be an “offensive” vehicle, but it wouldn’t be completely useless.
> The Mongoose can reach top speeds that are greater than the boosted Ghost, so there’s really no need for it.

> There’s a reason why the Mongoose is nicknamed the “Speed Demon”
Actually, I’ve heard that the warthog is faster than the mongoose. I think that the mongoose should get a speed boost at the least.
Forgive me if I’m wrong. I’m only saying what I’ve heard.

I like this idea very much.
However, we need to be able to disable this in Custom Games.
Halo 4 has shown us how frustrating it can be when players can’t play the way they want to. cough…forced sprint…cough
Also, a “Boost” ability might not be so welcomed in the Race gametype.

That would be sort of weird though, disabling a vehicle’s ability. We can’t really disable any of the other vehicle’s abilities…
Not saying I disagree or anything, more options are always a good thing I suppose.
> I’d be satisfied if human vehicles continued to accelerate like a normal vehicle instead of hitting top speed within a couple of seconds.

I think the top speeds on both the Warthog and mongoose is about 60/65mph. I like the ideal of covenant vehicles behaving differently than human. Covenant vehicles being highly manoeuvrable, fast acceleration, with a speed boost ability. Human being less manoeuvrable with a slower acceleration but with a high top speed and heavy armour. That way there is a skill involved in human vehicles in maintaining a high momentum such to avoid incoming threats and to be a greater splatter hazard.
I think the acceleration is fine, I just think they should keep accelerating to a higher top speed.
