Any good strats on completing the mongoose destruction commendation? I feel like it’s more luck than anything. I thought about grinding BTB, as people are more inclined to ride a mongoose in that game mode. People rarely spwan them in WZ and WZ Assault.
actually, assault is a viable option since ppl use gungeese to spam nades when defending the core…its worth a try…(im yet to get that myself, still at 3/5 for mongoose destroyer)
As you already mentioned, Big Team Battle CTF is a great way to get mongoose kills.
I have had the best luck in wz. When i spawn a scorpion people try to speed up in a mongoose to board me. Just be sure to take them out before they get to you. Ultimately it has a lot to do with luck though
I’m battling through with this commendation at the moment. 21 left to go, and it can’t come too soon. I’m doing it mainly on BTB, and use heavy weapons or other vehicles to destroy.
I have it completed and found that WZ was the best place for me to grind. I would fight my way up to lvl 4 or 5 as quick as possible. Then would immediately spawn my best anti-vehicle weapon available to me (The Endgame Splaser at lvl 6 is a god-send for goose’s). I would just kind of circle the inside of the garage on ARC or Monument on Noctus keeping an eye on popular vehicle routes for passing mongoose’s and watch the kill log to see if any teammates are getting killed by one. They make a very distinctive noise as well (both the engine and the grenade launchers) so keep your ears peeled.
I found that gungoose’s are pretty popular early on the warzone before people get high enough lvl for better vehicles like scorpions and wraiths so getting high enough REQ lvl asap is really important. That means killing all the AI you can. Hanging inside a base until it is captured and killing enemy marines as well as spartans quickly is a must. Assisting helps but you get a bigger boost towards the next level if you can actually land the kill.
Good anti Goose weapons:
Railguns (regular rail and whiplash may take multiple shots, try and time your shot until the goose is already damaged some to ensure destruction. Let’er rip with an ARC light).
Splasers of any kind
Incineration Cannons
Any form of Rocket launcher (preferably one can lock onto ground vehicles)
A lot of big team and ya that’s about it
How I got my last couple of mongooses kills is wait until your team has triple captured all the bases sneak in with an arc light or an laser to the back where the vehicles spawn and then wait. If you are really ballsy you can message the other team to spawn mongooses. Hope it helps.
I usually just hang in the back of the map with a tank of any kind and people like to use mongeese to quickly try to flank and capture the back base but you’ll be waiting with a tank.
Honestly, I just had to stop worrying about winning and make it a goal to blow up at least one mongoose per game. I destroyed my final one by accident in Entombed by emp and two grenades under the mongoose. Grenades helped me more than anything.
Step 1, get a good forger to create some type of gungoose deathrace game mode.
Step 2, hype it enough that it will get in action sack.
Step 3, Profit.
Go to warzone, and give the enemy the regular gungoose then destroy it. Ideally it should be when you have the the central base.
Play as much mongoose sumo as you can. I get a mongoose destroyer every other game or so. There are glitches/techniques you can employ to make sure you end up able to shoot a lot of the enemy mongooses (mongeese?) before they go over the edge.

So just switch to the back and shoot them while they are falling?
Edit: Did you play regular breakout or action sack for breakout commendations? I have a full champ team and we were going to get breakout commendations this weekend but would it just be easier to do it in action sack?

I used to spawn a rocket launcher after I hear a mongoose, not before, because I didn’t have a lot of these

Much easier in action sack. I was on level 2 on immortals and level 3 on against all odds when the playlist came out. Some guys think it’s easier to get the against all odds commendation in the new breakout now that you have a shotgun but that seems like a personal choice…I’ll take my chances in a tank or mantis. Took me about a month of grinding while solo queuing in action sack to finish those breakout commendations.
