Moments in campaign that make you FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Il start

HCE: Grunt in turret can splatter you by swiveling the turret

Halo 2: On the mission where you move across the bridge with the Tank, I fall into the hole in the bridge and while im falling get a checkpoint -__-

So I respawn falling to my death.

miss miss miss miss

[Reach]
Me: Okay Kat, we’re gonna move the rocket hog through a hallway so don’t fire at the walls.
Kat: Ok spins in circles firing
marine in passenger dies -100 points
Me: But Kat… I… She…
Kat: You betrayed a marine! hops out and blows up warthog with 1 AR bullet
Me: …ow.

[CE]
Me: Wow that was a hell of a fight. Hope I get a checkpoint soon.
Turns corner
Rocket Flood: BOO! kamikazes

Getting splattered by a dead banshee.

> Getting splattered by a dead banshee.

Been there, done that. I ate the remains of a Banshee I blew up…It was actually pretty funny because it happened like 10 sec after the blowing up part. lol

> Getting splattered by a dead banshee.

Been splattered by a live Banshee. I walk into a cave. The second I walk out a Banshee directly above me divebombs and plows me into the snow.

To add insult to injury, it then flys straight in to the cave and gets stuck.

The AI driven 'Hog that let’s you know he’s/she’s there to let you in by taking your shields and health down to literally nothing with a “tap.”
And ya can hear them and try to run, but that makes matters worse because they speed up to catch up.
And you can’t always be in a situation to avoid them even though you heard them coming.

… AND also;
2 Nights ago, Dax and I were running through a few campaign levels for the Grunt challenge. On WC, I got her a perfectly fine Wraith and I took the 'Hog. Then we took the turret area.
I gave my shotgun the Plasma Launcher and had a gunner for the chain-gun. I decided to let Dax go first just in case she might “BS Angel”-me with a mortar shot  We then came across the 2 Ghosts and foot-soldiers. I hung back to let her take the crowd, my gunner proceeds to unleash hell into the weak spot of the Wraith while my Plasma Launcher puts 2 on her backside, both in an attempt to shoot through Dax. By the time I realised my tools were tooling, I tried to move but the PL STILL shot a few rounds onto Dax…
reload checkpoint… I go first!

Oh and how long it can sometimes take an AI to get on. And how long it can take them to engage an enemy when on the turret. They are not fun like that. I can have them shoot in predictable bursts and engagement rules as a means to not be too powerful, but I am driving a turret here. The turret should auto-fire very efficiently while I keep us alive. If we could red-reticle our directional arrow and honk for the insta-shoot, that might be enough to things more useful without allowing the AI to do “all the work.” Though on Legendary, staying alive is already a great challenge in a vehicle if you don’t take things methodically. (I got to show Dax the fun of the Gauss in the courtyard. Took down the Bob and Hunters in style she did).

Thought of some more.

[CE]
I hop out of my Scorpion to press the door button. The second before I hop back in, all the marines hop off. When I get in, my Scorpion turns to face the same way as me and splatters all my marines.

I’m carefully driving my Warthog through an area with marines. For (unnecessary) fear of being splattered, they jump away from my Warthog. Unfortunately, some of them derp and jump in front of my Warthog. Helmets are a pain to clean out of the grill of the hog.

How the AI marines suck at driving, and how many times Kat was attempted to murder me.

You there, Marine give me your rocket launcher.

No, turn this way.

No, -Yoink!- I’m here.

Just turn around. Why is this taking you so long?

STOP! Where are you going?

Just give me the damn… FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

kills Marine

I so miss Halo 3 human AI. Instant responses to a weapon swap and they get in the damn vehicle when you do. I don’t know how Bungie managed to -Yoink- up the human AI in Reach so badly.

Seems like the AI in Reach regressed to CE times…
Bungie tried to make Reach like CE and they got rid of good things that were in H3:

-AI don’t shoot if ally is in front of them or enemy
-AI recognize dead bodies in front of them or passing through them

Returning to CE was a really bad idea. Sniper Johnson on AotCR sniped all my men for crying out loud!

Where? The area with 3 shades and 2 hunters.
How? I hang back near the damaged bridge with a sniper rifle in hand. The marines follow and the result was horrifying. I executed Johnson promptly.

So yeah, that’s only the beginning of my complaints.

CE: Marines that get past of my blockades, marines that get splattered when I have the ghost right by them and get out (but that’s physics to blame), being unable to push marines, marines preferring close quarters combat (but that can be fixed easily), marines shooting too closely and shooting each other (but that can also be fixed easily)

H3: Hornet pilots that want to stay away from me to the point that they drive into the death barrier and kill themselves, passenger marines that get in vehicles when I exit them (if it’s a hog, easily circumvented by positioning it so that the driver’s seat is against the wall), Covies being killed off in plain sight, annoying -Yoink- Pelicans doing my job for me and killing me indiscriminately in the process

Reach: Troopers turn unrealistically and too slowly when you’re trying to swap weapons with them, take a while to get in vehicles, are easily splattered, have very little health, can’t be headshotted.

Noble Team AI have bad combat preferences (except Jorge, who is suited for medium-long range and he does so). But Carter who is also suited, does not do so. He has a freaking dmr for crying out loud. Noble Team AI are invincible so why give them one shot kill?

Carter or Kat in the Wraith driver seat target distant targets (i.e. Covie dropship) despite there being an obvious obstruction (and me) in their trajectory.

Covies are cheap long story short.

And the Pelicans still do everything for me, often killing me when I’m in the middle of an assassination

/rant

The only games in which I could find none were H2 and ODST. Or it could be that I don’t spend a lot of time with the marines. After all, these two are the only Halo game in which I do enjoy playing solo. I like feeling like an invincible badass. It makes Legendary much more interesting.

Trying to move in and get some stealthy kills, then Jun’s sniper fires about 3 inaccurate shots around the enemy giving away our position.

I let Kat drive the Rocket Hog, I hop on the Rocket, she hits every obstacle including walls she can find, then drives off the first cliff in sight.

H2: on the Outskirts mission and your going towards the pelican that lets off troops, and the machine gun on the bottom of the pelicaan just starts to fire at you for NO reason.

All this talk about banshees made me make my video finnaly… BAM!

Johnson was not in AotCR.

In all honesty, you must be really slow in moving from the checkpoint activation to saving the Marines just around the corner where you find the downed Pelican and Scorpion. I would purposely leave the Scorpion to take Johnson as my sniper sitting shotgun and a gunner in the 'Hog. Quick, agile and deadly instead of the tank, slow and deadly. (other times, I’d take the Banshee, I’d always knock it off so it wasn’t a problem).

Thats not Johnson. Johnson at the time was in the “weapons cache” with Keyes the marine you are talking about just has Johnson’s voice.

How did this become a controversy? Of course it’s not Johnson. It’s a marine sergeant with his model. Let’s stay on topic.

First of all, me and my marines were on foot.
Second, it has nothing to do with a checkpoint.
Third, the default spawned hog doesn’t retain marines.

Ohhh right. It’s the Cloned Wars version, not the story version.

You wish to tell the person that claims the Marine that looks like Sarge, sounds like Sarge and carries a Sniper, should only be referred to as the Sniper-Marine or the Marine with the SRS99, and not Sarge himself.

You should have said that in the first place. I guess we should be clear that when Johnson dies on ground, but then is later on the boarding party on the Truth, that’s not really the Sarge ever dying either eh?

What would you say about the Legendary ending in CE then? We can’t say that’s Johnson because we know that’s not Johnson because he’s being rescued by the Chief then right?

Halo 3: Attacking the Citadel where the two scarabs are and grabbed a hornet with a marine passenger. Flew to a scarab and landed on it. Left the hornet to destroy its core on foot. Afterwards returned to where my hornet was suppose to be, only to find my fellow marine took it leaving me to run from the imminent explosion on foot.
