Modernization = Death for Halo 5

If you stray too far from the formula you’ll kill the game.

Halo Reach and Halo 4 should have shown you this, if you want longevity and a decent community you should go back to Halo 1-2-3.

  • Equal spawns- No loadouts- Weapons on the map- Guns, grenades and melee still look importantEverything seems intact as far as the old formula goes and if dual-wielding and vehicle boarding as features everyone can use didn’t fundamentally ruin Halo, I don’t see Spartan Abilities does that since they are in the same vein. But I’m sure you’ve numerous topics like this already and you only want to hear what you want to hear.

So what was the Original formula for Halo’s 2 and 3?

  • Equal Starts- Map Control- Weapons and Power ups on the map- Skill influences the game, Not unlocks. Now lets look at Halo 5:

  • Equal Starts confirmed.- Map Control is being pushed more than ever before.- Power weapons and power ups are on the map.- The only thing that changes gameplay is a players knowledge and skill.- And we get more map movement (Movement is just as important as shooting in an Arena title).Yep, Seems like Halo 5 is respecting the Arena roots of the franchise while adding something new.

The new mechanics may or may not be terrible, but they are hardly “straying from the formula”.

Does everyone need to have their own thread? look for similar threads before posting.

Huh ,deception cobra. Yeah, good guy. All these years in these forums…

More or less whatever he said…

I was finally able to play some matches in Halo 2/3/Anniversary. I really hope matchmaking will finally be 100% playable, each game in collection will have it’s own playlists and these playlists will have population counters. I’m sure it will put an end to many forum’s dogmas (like that “everyone” wants “classic formula” and Halo 4 is responsible for Halo’s online downfall).

Halo 5 needs to change. It needs to be fun. When my woman plays Halo 2 Anniversary Team Slayer BR on Lockdown and says that it’s boring… Well, she isn’t some kind of highly-skilled competitive player, but she have taste in online shooters. She can recognize difference between good CoD games (BO2, AW) and bad CoD games (Ghosts), just like she played Halo 3, but disliked Reach. When she doesn’t want to play “new” Halo game online, but wants to play Advanced Warfare instead, I’m 100% sure that millions of casual Xbox One owners will make same choice.

You can discuss all you want about what is, or what isn’t part of Halo’s legitimate formula. Millions of people don’t care about that stuff at all. They want to play a good game.

Halo 5 is more similar to Halo CE, 2, and 3 than Halo: Reach and Halo 4 ever were.

In Halo: Reach and Halo 4, you could customize the way you approached matchmaking.

In Halo 5, everyone will have equal starts and power weapons/power-ups are on the map. This is the same as Halo CE, 2, and 3. So it seems that you will be getting your wish for a return to that type of gameplay.
