why the hell did you guys lock a thread about a bug thats been in game since the begining. the post was called “why does this hapen in multiplayer?” the person asked and gave examples about what happened and you guys locked the thread and reported it for spam. whats the deal?

Apparently he used formatting options that weren’t -Yoink!--approved or something. I get warnings all the time from the mods for some of the dumbest reasons imaginable. I just ignore them.

Realistically though the thread was pointless. We all know 343 doesn’t pay attention to the forums anyways.

well yea, i got told i was using nonconstructive criticism when i was telling a guy he should learn the ropes better in a game, got banned for it, but i sent ToA freak a message i hope he sees it soon. but man they are abusing thier power, if they see something that they dont like BANHAMMER -Yoinking!- idiots, how do you expect to keep players if when hey come here to give feedback they lock you thread and ban you?

Unfortunately enough, even talking about how a moderator moderates is against the rules. I highly disagree with it and I think some actions are completely unfounded but when it comes down to it rules are rules.

Though the problem with the thread in question was that the formatting was pretty ridiculous. Though I would think it would be more appropriate to warn the person via PM to change it instead of straight up locking it down.

I got a warning for telling a guy who was complaining about his teammates always sucking that maybe it was mostly his fault since he had a negative k/d ratio. Because if the truth hurts you aren’t allowed to say it apparently.

I know. Only a matter of time before they lock the thread and probably hand me and OP warnings or bans for daring to speak our minds. Oh well.

i could care less, i just want them to know they are crap mods and need to be fired.

Couldn’t they have just edited his post and removed the bold/underline/font size?

But human beings in power seem to prefer punishment over resolution.

I agree and perhaps if the “offender” continued to make posts in such a way then it would go against his account. I wish there was an actual forum dedicated to monitoring monitors as feedback from the Forum Team and actual Monitors (PM-ing whom is the appropriate course of action) in respect to questionable monitor action is few and far apart.

the guy im talking about made one post got banned and locked. the mods here just ont know wtf they are doing half the time. and they need to not take offense to something thats telling them specifically about a bug that happens ALOT. but yet they do what they always do, lock out -Yoink- and pretend it isnt real. i mean we paid for a game, but only got 1/3 of a game
cant even play Spartan OPs offline.

Fire them? They are volunteers. They have no affiliation with 343 other than being selected to monitor this sight.
I think sometimes they are a little harsh, but in the end, leniency tends to make people think they can get away with more, because they are shown mercy.
How would things be different if you were a monitor?

Look,

Mr Kurbb Stompp, for the most part I agree with you.

I think Halo 4 for the most part is a terrible Halo, I think the community has largely been ignored and I certainly disagree with some moderator action while fully aware that I’m not able to call it out.

Personally I couldn’t care less about how you go about posting but for your own sake you’ll have to make it seem like there’s more to your posts than anger. I don’t like saying it because I find it hard to dissipate my disdain for 343 too, but it’s for your own good if you wish to keep contributing to the community.

It’s a terrible way to go.

Time Glitch, lest we forget.

I find their presence to be helpful. I’ve never had an issue with moderator abuse before, and if I’ve had a post of mine edited by a moderator (which is rare) it was I was accidentally going against the rules. I’m grateful that they’re correcting out mistakes.

Of course. I don’t think anyone is doubting the utility of a moderator.

Though from my experience I’ve found comments either of my own or from others in which there is confusion over being non-construvtive and being opinionated. To me, that’s where the issue lies.

Time glitch was banned for a good reason. His incessant bypassing of the word filter, his un constructive posts, and most of all, his attacking and insulting of other form members. Seriously, the guy had one good thread, but the rest were just hate filled.

You can use capital letters to start a sentence, or emphasize a single phrase. But an entire OP? No.

And the way we complain about their decisions has to do with our own ego. We think we know better.
I look at the warnings and the four day ban I received from them, and I saw in the end it was a just sentence.
I imagine being a long time monitor is tough work. Making decisions on what is relevant and what is not. I had a post similar a few years back on a gaming site. For 3 months, it drove me crazy.
But again, how would things be different if you were a monitor? You have to lead by example.

So not true. Waypoint is the biggest online source for Halo (besides Halopedia) so yes, they have people always on them.

Who says I’m saying specifically that the fate of his posts were unjust?

I used Time Glitch as an example highlighting how it’s disappointing and a bad way to go when an influential member of the community loses his/her cool and subsequently is removed from the forum.
