Moderating: Pin it or leave it.
Okay, quite frankly, I’m sick of the moderating on this website. I, as well as many others feel as if the mods (Whoever they are) have no idea about what they’re doing.
An example of this you ask? When I first came to this website, I was banned for 3 days because during a debate I called someone an “Idiot”. Yes that’s right, an idiot. Is ‘idiot’ censored? Is someone calling you an idiot over the internet even remotely offensive? No.
There are even more example from other users of this too.
Now to the next part of my post. Merging threads. This is the single most annoying thing a mod can do. You know that somewhat well written OP you just spent a decent amount of time on? Yeah well there was a thread three weeks ago about the same topic, and now it’s hidden away on page 7. This has happened a few times to myself, and it’s just -Yoinking!- annoying (Even more so if you’re having a discussion about the topic in your thread, and when it gets merged, it’s basically lost and impossible to continue).
I’m sorry if I don’t look through pages upon pages upon pages of threads to look for repeat topics. It’s ridiculous. If the topic isn’t pinned, the mods shouldn’t be merging them at all.
Basically, the moderating team needs to get their act together. Common word is that the only mods on the forums are those who kissed the employees -Yoink- before most knew this website even existed… With the way the place is run I can’t really object. There must be better options.
Knowing my luck, there is already a topic on this from several months ago and it’ll be moved or I’ll just be banned… But whatever. I’m done with this forum until something is changed.

I got banned on B.net for defending Halo from an MLG CoD fanboy.

I suggest you learn to use the website as designed, then you can complain how it works. You are ignoring the Official Feedback Thread or the Gamma Forums Suggestions thread for this rant.
If many of your topics are being merged, then you definitely are a part of the problem. It is part of Keeping it clean.
It is because of posters either being too lazy or too ignorant to jump into already open threads that the Mods must merge new topics into existing ones. I say ignorant because it is as if the poster wants special attention for the being a topic creator rather than being a topic interact’er and don’t bother searching for already open topics. Borderline arrogant.
This is not new.
I also suggest you stop believing in rumour. Facts have it, the mods are known and the CLs are not mods.

Keeping it clean? Haha wow. That’s the most pathetic excuse I’ve ever heard. If there are designated topics for certain ideas, they should be pinned. My thread shouldn’t be merged with another that’s on page 7. It’s not laziness on my part either.

You’re right. You should have posted in the topic on page 7. Keepin it clean isn’t just about language, it’s about compartmentalising the topics into central topics. Tis better to have 1000 different opinions in 1 location than it is to have them spread out over 1000 locations.

and this is where I’ve stopped taking you seriously.
Forums are a place for discussion. You’re acting like if we didn’t have single threads for topics then the whole forum would be about that one topic. This is not the case and you know it. Repeat threads are flushed out and die.
If discussion is happening within a thread it shouldn’t be merged with another that has died. This forum is the only one I’ve ever been to that does it, and it’s pathetic.
The mods on this site are too ban-happy. Seriously if somebody insults you, you will more than likely be banned for defending yourself. Have the mods never heard of warnings? Here’s an idea to the mods, if a debate is getting heated, then post in the thread reminding people to keep it clean. There is no need whatsoever to ban for the slightest reason. Also the rules on this site are unclear, incomplete and vague IMHO. For example last time I checked, it was against the rules to “engage members who are trolling”, but trolling itself is not against the rules? What the -Yoink- is that about? Also how the hell are you supposed to know who’s trolling?
Bnet had a nice, clear long page of the rules, clearly defining them (Although said rules were never taken seriously due to the sheer lack of a good moderating team). Also at least on Bnet you knew why you were banned. I can’t count the number of times I’ve been banned for reason “attacking other members” or “other”.
Your whole issue would be solved if you used the search bar first, since, you know, that’s the whole point of the search bar…

While I agree with the theory behind that statement, it doesn’t work when put into practice (at least in the beta forums). The search bar doesn’t work properly and I’m sure I’m not the only one who has noticed. Type in the exact title of a thread and I either get a choice of 3 unrelated posts or 0 results at all. Hopefully when the new forums roll out this issue will be resolved but for now the search bar is almost entirely useless.

And your topic is #4? What are we trying to argue here? First topic even shows off who the Mods are, sort of. Glyph isn’t a Mod as far as I remember. But hey, haven’t seen him in a while… let’s use search find.
So I search “Glyph.” Third topic down gives me xGLYPHx. And clicking on the topic and checking his avatar, nope, not a CL or Administrator/Mod.

Every other site I’ve used lets you use multiple words and searches for the best match. If they can’t do that here then it’s a major flaw in the system.

Apart from my post in the results, all others are nonsense. Not exactly useful.
The search bar is an all or nothing feature. You’re either going to get too many results to go through or none at all.
