Go back to the original king of the hill. This ‘new’ version is terrible.
I agree somewhat, but keep strongholds, i think it is unique and alot of fun . Different than KOTH. There’s a place for both of these modes. But KOTH does need some tweeking with the timed scoring and there is only the 1 map that doesn’t work with KOTH at all and that’s Launch Site. It just dont work…
I really like the new scoring system; it was so annoying in the old system to gain the hill just before it moves. Now you’re always incentivized to go for the hill.
My one suggestion; change the default loadout from 2 frag grenades to 1 frag grenade. KotH is so spammy.
…now, your team can still lose the match despite the fact that they had more time overall than your opponents. That is not a beneficial change!
As I have said with previous posts, the KoTH game type has been immensely popular for so many years exactly the way that it was. If 343i want to introduces this new scoring method for HCS matches, there is certainly nothing wrong with that. However, please leave the “classic” scoring system intact within the online matchmaking playlists.
The new way King of the Hill is played makes the rushing to get in the hill unbearable at times. Recharge bottom mid is a great example where the progression system of the game mode is challenging to get behind. Then, the hill spawns to an area where it takes skill and teamwork to hold the hill to fully capture. I’m not sure if moving back to the traditional King of the Hill mode where standing in the hill gains a overall score, but I think that this new game mode adds a great change to the variety especially for ranked.

Not realy. If the enemy team only has almost captured hill and your team still needs a lot and it’s currently empty. I’m not gonna run to the hill, since it’s completely useless. You won’t cap it and any seconds you might gain at the expense at lives is useless and waisted, since it won’t gain you anything. It’s better to stay alive with your team and just position yourselfs so you can get into the new hill first. In the old system i would try to get to the old hil if i can get there in timel, because every second counts.
Yeah, having the Hill being stationary in 4 vs 4 matches is so damn genius… simply get two enemies killed and have them spawn far away from the Hill, then only two of them left to get it back (vs 4 of you) that will die until their mates catch up, and so the loop continues. What unbelievable kind of genius thought of that!!! Amazing ingenuity.
Exactly! I have seen this happen numerous times. If anything, this new KoTH scoring system gives your opponents incentive to not charge or push for the hill. If they feel their team is too far behind, they simply wait for the next one. ![]()
Please bring back the classic KoTH scoring system to online matchmaking.
koth settings are bad. please let players fight over the final hill. shrink the hilll capture bar if you need a timer to finish matches.
KOTH is one of my favorite gametypes in Halo because anyone can win for FFA games. For team games its cool depending on the map and if its easy to get around or not.
But I would definitely like to see the hill pop up in more areas throughout the map. With Forge coming out it would be nice to see different areas be used instead the same ones all the time.
