modding

why cant you mod reach without getting cought

Because any type of modding is against the XBox Live ToS, there are automated systems in place to detect it and act accordingly. If you want to mod, do so offline. If you bring your mods to online play then you run a very high risk of being banned

Then consider yourself very lucky. If you get caught you can get your console and or XBL account permanently banned. Pro Tip: Don’t mod

There is that modded gametype that allow you to spawn things like a Warthog with a Scorpion main cannon or the fuel rod and anti-air Shades (the fuel rod one is underpowered) .

Always wondered how this managed to stay as a downloadable gametype.

I think you can use modded 360 maps via file share

Any gametypes you had in your fileshare will obviously work on the X1. Your X1 is running an emulated 360 so you’re essentially running an Xbox 360 on X1 hardware. If there’s modded gametypes and maps floating around, they’ll still be accessible to players.

kinda a bad move there by the OP, revealing that your modding to a Admin. although, I think if someone figured out a way to get around the 30fps cap and go to 60fps on the xbox one through modding, I think microsoft would probably use that mod with BC halo reach.

This Forum Is Old, And Modifying Anything Is Against Xbox TOS. I Suggest Take Every Mod Away. They Can Resort To Bans, Especially When A Ban Wave Is Happening.
This Forum Should Be Locked By Admins/Monitors.

All that can be found in the game files, and it’s just a gametype you can play in custom games with friends and some randoms.
It doesnt affect online play in any way.

Modding to Inheritor and jtag stuff offline is perfectly fine. Halo Reach will reset you if you try to mod yourself to an inheritor online, and xbox live will console ban you if you use a jtag on xbox live, and the only way around this is kinda pricy and complicated. So just don’t mod.

So does playing a fun modded map or gametype with friends in a custom game count as illegal?

We found fun maps in the fileshare that are friendly fun game modes that simply add weird vehicles or dumb fx that do no harm but cause more fun.

Eg: Lazy developers never added the Troop Hog or Grenade Launcher Falcon in forge so some guy did it somehow and put it in his fileshare.

Fallout 4 has mods, its time for dictator developers to move on. Gamers want to play games how they want to play. Single player or fun custom games shouldn’t count as illegal.

I agree completely, playing forge with these custom mods are beast, it adds more fun to the game, just don’t play live.

Good morning and merry christmas.

When you signed up for an Xbox LIVE account, you agreed to LIVE’s Terms of Service and Code of Conduct, in which both state modding is not allowed/ is prohibited while using LIVE’s services on the Xbox. It is a binding agreement, not a suggestion. Additionally as an additional precaution, the automated banhammer is in place in the Halo games to essentially enforce Code of Conduct to be fair to the majority and justifiably remove the few who feel Code of Conduct is nothing more than a suggestion and that they can do anything they want with the ‘content’ they purchased.

To take matters a step further, do not use any modded content or mod to prevent a ban from Halo: Reach or even Xbox LIVE as a whole.

Hope this helps and have a nice day now.

Theoretically yes, and people have been banned from Reach for it, because some people think it’s funny to mod a map to intentionally set off the banhammer upon playing it and stick it in their fileshare. It’s just best to stay away from such maps and gametypes, as fun as they are.

But those dumb FXs have caused harm in the past here on waypoint, in weekly screenshot contests when BS Angel was waypoint admin. People were using such gametypes to do special poses and get special FXs that were not normally possible and were submitting them to her weekly screenshot contest. It caused people who were creating legitimate screenshots to become upset because they knew screenshots that shouldn’t exist for a contest were being chosen over theirs, so in essence those gametypes were used to cheat in screenshot contests, hence creating frustration and harm. Thankfully when BS Angel found out, she took swift action, not once, but twice.
