Hello. I’m here to get clarification, ask a few questions, and see if 343 would be willing to help. I’m not here to represent anyone, just here as myself to ask.
Firstly. I’m a big fan of HALO, the games, lore, books and all. I’m here from ArmA 3, most already know it or play it, but in short its a Military Simulation game that encourages the community to mod content into it. And one of the many communities in ArmA 3 is the Halo community. Currently we only have one mod team creating HALO content for ArmA 3, and I’m not here to rag on them, or call them out; they’re a great team and they abide by all the rules Microsoft lays out in their EULA Game Usage rules. But unfortunately, they’re just a small team with updates happening every so often and mostly down to UNSC Marines/Army and Insurrectionist forces. However they lack in the content regarding Spartans and Covenant and other factions that are in HALO.
So my biggest question is, would 343 be willing to help this niche community who loves HALO and milsims, create more content? Regarding Spartans and Covenant?
Another question is about models created, there is only one line concerning models in the Game Usage rules and that pertains to just reverse engineering the games to acquire anything or do something the game wouldn’t permit (paraphrasing of course). It’s vague and understandably I’m a bit confused.
What about getting permission from modelers who have previously created those models to 3D print as costumes, could I go about it that way? Preferably most people go with creating their own content from scratch, but unfortunately I’m just one person.
Or as a matter of fact could 343 grant us permission to use their models, like they have in the past with other small developers. Of course everything done would be done according to the rules laid out.
