Thats like saying lets get rid of the MLB, NFL and Olympics because of those pesky steroid users. If you wana play football or baseball go play in your backyard, forget leagues and competition it might lead to steroid use.
343 and Bungie are just too lazy to moderate Halo Ranks is that the sad truth?
Do work 343!
Halo’s black market for account selling/buying is what killed ranks.
It is completely illogical on 343’s part. Most people liked the rank system, just because a few people boosted and modded doesn’t mean they should take it away.
> Halo’s black market for account selling/buying is what killed ranks.
Humans can put a man on the moon and create an atom bomb…
But somehow cant prevent from re selling accounts on XBOX live… strange days we live in…
> Halo’s black market for account selling/buying is what killed ranks.
Do you have any idea how rare this actually was? I have never met, in the thousands of 50’s I play in H3, one who I did not believe deserved it. Just because he had a bad game doesn’t mean he bought his 50.
IDK maybe since my true skill was high in most H3 playlists, I never met the 50’s who were bought, but IME I have never seen one. And I doubt you have either.
Not to mention where the heck would you buy a 50 from? Ebay had a strict policy and removed any xbox live account from their site, and I have a strong feeling very few people were willing to purchase a 50 without a middle man. I have had friends who spent months making 50 after 50, yet they barely made any money of any.
People liked to make 50’s, selling them was just a bonus. No one actually made significant money off selling 50’s, no significant amount of people bought 50’s. And even if they did, people sell WoW accounts for thousands of dollars and it runs rampant, yet you don’t see blizzard removing the ranking system do you? WoW = Ranks, and the same went for Halo. It dominated the market because of the ranking system and the gameplay. Do you think it’s a coincidence that CoD took over the market as soon as “ranked gameplay” was no longer a staple of Halo? What do you have to say about the fact that MW2, a game that trailed H3 through all of H3’s life time, was beating Reach in numbers 2 years after Reach’s release? Yes of course the gameplay played a factor, but it just goes to show that something went wrong and I think most whom are educated on the matter agree that the poorly implemented ranking system played a large factor.
And then on top of that, Treyarch is realizing how much they can gain from a ranking system and IMPLEMENTED A DIVISIONAL SYSTEM IN BLOPS2. How much do you want to bet H5 has a ranking system, not because they listened to us, but because blops2 did it and it crushed H4 (which seems likely).
Yes 1-50 has it’s flaws, but it’s better than what we have now.
And 2, if you’re going to blame anyone, blame microsoft. They are the ones who refuse to budge on true skill, and force all xbox games to use true skill. If 343 was allowed to devise their own system, I can guarantee with absolute certainity they could make something that works a whole lot better than true skill. Here’s just one example that I mocked up a few months ago. I have yet to find 1 person who can find a flaw in it, and just think of what a team of highly skilled devs could do.
A skill system is coming next year…
What was this thread meant to do again?
Aged off/post removed.

Yes, enlighten us with your knowledge oh great master. Please tell us how the ranks will be in game and will actually matter. Oh they won’t? Well then, I guess this thread has a purpose.

Yes a skill system that you can see on waypoint yay not really.

Right on the button KO right cross! I HOPE 343 reads this!!!
Selling 50’s in Halo 3 was just good business…Microsoft made more money because those who bought their 50 accounts spent more money on them to keep them active. Boosters (gamers who understood Halo 3) were able to make or save a little bit of coin for themselves. Everyone was happy. Well, except for those poor souls who happened to be on the de-ranking team…LoL…Nioce!!! Ah…Memories.

I agree with the OP! A juiced up Ryan Braun found a glitch in the system and still got the MVP award in 2011. That’s like the most precious award in baseball.
