Besides the argument about Aim Assist and all that, I have a question. The biggest difference between the two inputs are how fast the reticule responds to your input, right? MnK could perform a 1080 in the time the Controller can turn 360°. Why dont they just cap the turning speed for MnK to something that matched a controller? I dont play on PC/MnK, never have, so Im unfamiliar with how they work and act.
They could, but it’d feel like dragging your mouse though mud for players with high sensitivity. Unresponsive controls is an easy way to kill your multiplayer scene.
Ultimately, the aim assist is strong enough to justify all the HSC pros using the controller, so being able to turn around faster doesn’t seem to be so destructive in a fight. Evenly skilled KB&M and controller, for the MB&M player, you’ll be able to chip some more shield damage before losing to the guy who shot you first.
It’s not that impactful, but I can understand the frustration of playing though all the Halo games on console and shooting someone in the back leading to easier fights compared to Infinite’s cross play with KB&M players.
I’m not sure if there is a way to see what input a player is using, so maybe if you could tell the person you’re about to shoot is capable of doing a 180 to face you instantly would do a lot for console players not having fun in cross play.
(Or Microsoft can stop living in the 2000s, release a controller with gyro support and controller players wouldn’t need aim assist by default and could just use a flickstick configuration to have a faster turning speed)
So I am confused, is controller on PC not the ultimate aim bot right now?
People in general should stop living in the 2000s and try using other control types, like Joystick Keyboard, Joystick Mouse, Left hand controller right hand mouse, Razer Tartarus, Azeron, HOTUS, Hori Tactical Joy Keyboard, Hori Tactical Controller, fight pad, analog keyboard, drawing tablet, touch screen, double keyboard, Steam controller, VR controls and headset, Donkey Kong Bongos, Guitar Hero Controller, Steering wheel and pedals, Wii Remote, Kinect, literally anything other than Xbox Controller and Keyboard Mouse, because honestly we should have better technology by now to not have to live in a two party gaming political system.
Half of those I’m joking around, but there are genuinely many other types of controllers that gamers have used since early PC through PS2. Just apparently nobody has heard of them.
WASD movement sucks and right stick aiming sucks. Choose neither. We have the technology. Unfortunately/luckily, only Xbox controller will get aim assist, because anything else disables aim assist until you close and restart the whole game as soon as it’s detected in the Halo Infinite menu. None of the above options will ever be better than aim assist, so pros will always just be using Xbox Controller.
It is objectibly a better input device and if you want to go pro or just do the best you possibly can, you have to learn and play on a controller. It’s not going to give you free perfects or win you games on its own, but it is a lot easier to do a lot better with it because of aim assist.
Sometimes if I log on and am still half asleep I think I would honestly do better using these lol
The best way to describe it is that the Mouse is an Analog Input Device. The faster you move your mouse, the faster it translates to on computer demand. You can have different sensitivities, different DPI’s, whatever word you wish to put to it. The fact is that for every mouse user an X amount of distance traveled with mouse = an X amount of rotation ingame.
Most mouse users will have it so they can ‘flick’ a full 180 degrees on muscle memory alone. For me, thats roughly 5.8 cm’s because I’m a wrist player. No matter if I take 10 seconds to do that 5.8 centimeters of movement, or 0.001 seconds to do that 5.8 cm’s of movement. The result will always be the same. I will have turned around fully.
That’s why you can’t limit mouse movements.
Edit: Removed my pro-mouse propaganda as that isn’t what the topic is about.
So are we advocating to nerf how fast MnK players can turn? And why? I honestly don’t think this is an issue at all for players on controller who have good movement and good crosshair placement. Besides SWAT where MnK just had and advantage due to the nature of the input method. No way around that.
elite controller with 2x paddles on the back have a voice in this fight?
CTRL+F … NOPE.
Controller*
Aim assist on PC with controller is busted. Controller on Xbox is wayyyy better. too many problems with the controller not using aim assist, or it randomly disables.
