I made a pretty large thread regarding the MMR system yesterday but I was also less informed than what I wanted to be, so I spent 7 hours researching the MMR system and now I realize it’s actually MUCH worse than I had previously stated. Essentially the system calculates all stats into the MMR including games played and win percentage, even in regards to warzone games.
This means if you have a high win percentage in Warzone your MMR will increase even if you have NEVER played any other gametype. I believe it is possible to achieve max MMR while playing Warzone exclusively, which I intend to prove by creating a new account solely for this purpose.
If my experiment is successful I should be able to achieve a high MMR by exclusively playing in the Warzone and Firefight playlists.
If that’s the case then there could be players on your team who have never played a ranked match and could be pairing with Diamond or Platinum level players and matching against Onyx or Diamond Level players, due to thier high MMR.
There isn’t a 1700 MMR cap this season. You can be placed in high onyx or champion right after your placement matches. For the rest, like I mentioned in the other thread, you should really ask Dr Menke about this cause I don’t think you’re interpreting the TrueSkill 2 system correctly and I don’t think you’re taking other factors into account. He’ll be able to give you the right answers or say you’re correct if you are.

Well your correct in assuming I’m not taking TrueSkill2 into consideration, but TrueSkill2 was only implemented this month and I haven’t noticed any differences since.its introduction.
What I’m much more concerned about is whether or not warzone and firefight effect the MMR rating.
Also I don’t know how to link Dr.Menke to this page but I can definitely message him personally.
Firefight doesn’t use the TrueSkill 2 system and MMR likely isn’t a factor in it. WZ does, but you’d have to ask if it affects other playlists at all or not. My suggestions would be to either quote yourself and paste it in that thread or just make a new post.

Lets assime that Firefight does not use MMR.
Warzone on the other hand definitely does use the MMR system as I have seen proof of this.
The question does indeed become whether or not your Warzone MMR effects the other playlists.
As for Dr.Menke how do I tag him in a post?
Also I’ve stated this before but I truly believe the MMR system does not match players evenly. Whether or not that has anything to do with Warzone or Firefight, I can’t be sure.
You click the ‘User link’ icon that’s at the top of the reply box and then insert his name. It will look like this: ZaedynFel.
This thread would be a good one to start in if you haven’t read it already since it talks about MMR, CSR and the TS2 system.
You have a separate MMR for every playlist. Firefight doesn’t take into account a player’s MMR since it doesn’t matter. And your Warzone MMR doesn’t affect any other playlist (aside from Warzone Turbo when its available and Assault since they’re basically the same game types). Also, the MMR system does match players evenly when there are enough players of a given tier searching around the same time as each other. If not, the system has to compromise to a certain extent in order to give you a game at all (60/40 odds is the cutoff, I do believe). If it can’t make that compromise, then you just don’t get a game. This situation mainly affects the players with really high MMR’s, though. This gets further mucked up when players party up with each other.
But seriously, you can keep making assumptions about the system, or you can get an answer from the guy directly responsible for it by posting your questions in this thread, or taking some time to go through everything that’s been mentioned about the Matchmaking system over the last year in this archive thread here.
It’ll beat whatever information us regular players try and give you about the system since everything we know about how the system works comes from those threads.
You’ve been directed to the correct place for your questions multiple times now. Please post there.
