343 has a contract with -Yoink!- Mobile Gaming which prevents 343 from having a contract with MLG.
…
watch out. a lot of people claiming they didn’t like it so it doesn’t matter it’s gone incoming.

100% False.
MLG decided of their own free will, that Halo 4 could not supply enough interest in the gaming community. With Developer API not shared, and the lack of variety the game currently offers, several communites and support lines for Halo have faded away.
MLG decided it was a financially bad move to wait for Halo 4 to make changes, and chose to run with Call of Duty BO2 as their shooter for 2013.
All of this can be found by official MLG sources via mlgpro.com or twitter.
Also MLG is still developing their playlist.
343i is working on their Pro-Competitive playlist, which will probably be similiar to what MLG finalizes.
That’ll be coming in the coming weeks.

Also false. MLG will not be partaking in Halo 4 other than GameBattles. @Gh057ayame was the man in charge of the maps and game setting for Halo 4 MLG. He has confirmed this.
Furthermore, current professionals are either switching to cod to follow the money, or working with the Arena Gaming League to continue the tradition of competitive events. If you support competitive Halo, go follow @ArenaGaming_ on twitter to learn more.
Their first event is being held in Chicago this weekend. You can find this info in the Waypoint News section.
There won’t be an “MLG” playlist because Halo 4 isn’t on the circuit. They said they took out Slayer Pro to make it better, but no word on when it will be coming back That and team snipers were the only good playlists imo.

MLg is one community and play slayer. They also said in a tweet that they were not backed by Microsoft and couldn’t use halo 4. Show me that they chose not to play halo 4 because of what you said. And by the way they made v1 settings for slayer.

MS sold -Yoink!- gameing a contract for tournament rights so 343 couldnt really do much.

Really?
Sundance(commissioner of MLG) said that the contract between VG and MS made things complicated for a deal to happen.
It’s purely about growing the Mlg “brand”. Think about it people… Halo is an Xbox exclusive. Why not switch to a game that is supported on multiple platforms and reach out to more people.
That is the crux of it pure and simple. Personally I am glad.

MLG has a problem with “lack of variety”? Rather hypocritical, considering all their Halo gametypes are watered-down and revolved around one weapon and one playstyle.
Good riddance.
Because default Halo 4 is not fun to play competitively and the custom options provided don’t allow us to create good competitive settings.
And the -Yoink!- Gaming contract issues are a myth. MLG could hold an event if they wanted to. THC is holding an event in February, AGL is holding one this weekend. MLG held an event in November. The MLG higher-ups just recognize that they need a developer who is willing to support the competitive side of the game and help it thrive.

Great decision by MLG by the way. halo 4 is nowhere near to be competitive

I allways thought it was funny when people say mlg game types are watered down Halo. MLG removed unnecessary weapons(you dont need 5 1shot kill close quarter combat guns on a map) and guns that promote camping to speed up gameplay. Halo 4 MLG settings has all rifles, AR, Boltshot, railgun, needles, sticky det, sniper, rockets, magnum, and plasma pistol on maps for pickup. What gun is left out that doesn’t fall in to the category of one of these guns and is not extremely OP? MLG tries to balance their gametypes so skill will shine through since their tournaments are played for money and should not be decided on luck. If you dont like consistant gameplay and prefer more hectic or random games thats fine. But don’t say it is a watered down halo because it shows you don’t play MLG settings. If anything it adds depth because complicated tactics are able to shine through.

I assume he was talking about H3 and Reach. In any case, it’s still a flawed notion. No one used the weapons MLG removed in H3 and Reach aside from the Needler, Sword (which was in H3), and Shotgun. Needler and Shotgun should be obvious removals in a game that tries to reward skill, Shotgun is more debatable, but the Mauler was an obvious replacement for it in H3.
I remember asking kids who were complaining about the lack of variety in HReach MLG “how many kills do you have with the Plasma Rifle?”. They all had zero, yet they were bashing MLG for not including the weapon in the sandbox.

All I remember is Halo 3 MLG that had BR starts with occasional sniper rifles on the map and a central power weapon or powerup. That’s watered down. Maybe they changed, I don’t know, but they aren’t game developers. The devs created the sandbox the way they did for specific reasons and MLG’s tinkering with it shouldn’t be perceived as “better”. I argue that the default sandbox is optimized for both competition and diversity of playstyle. I honestly don’t find anything overly “random” or “luck-based” about it (except for Ordnance drops).
