MLG...?

Will halo 2 return to the MLG circuit because of this game? I hope so.

meh, maybe mlg but I’m thinking other tournament holders will have more events with H2A. mlg is too busy with their dota and such games

MLG likes Call of Duty and dota better these days.

I gawd I hope!

The most reasonable thing would be to bring H2A to select MLG stops as a testing ground to see if the community wants it. (Obviously we do!) Then go full force with Halo 5 in the circuit come 2016.

In the mean time there are other venues taking advantages of the MCC.

If you follow any of the MLG guys on Twitter than you’ll know they definitely have a lot of plans with H2A. You gotta remember, what game started MLG? Halo 2. And having a such a huge competitive fan base isnt something that should be passed up on. They dumped Halo after Reach released because it was no longer competitive and just lost their fan base. But now all the old pros are just coming back from nowhere, even the Ogre twins will start playing again. The Halo 2 fanbase still exists, and if H2A can live up to the hype, and even bring new players in, their will be no questions asked that H2A will be in MLG.

Hopefully not. I’d rather 343 ran all major Halo tournaments because they actually care for the game and want it to succeed rather than just leeching off of its popularity and dropping it like its hot as soon as it hits a rough patch. It would motivate 343 to create a tournament capable game to generate more revenue for themselves which is worth infinitely more to everyone as the gamers who play Halo than a fancy MLG logo slapped onto everything.

I doubt it unless they want to broadcast the tournaments on twitch instead of MLG.tv. Since 343 signed a deal with twitch.

Could you provide your source for this? I can’t seem to find this deal/contract anywhere.

Yep I’ll try and look for it real quick.

What you said here is just hilariously wrong.

343 wants Halo to succeed? That’s why they completely changed Halo in H4? That’s why they never started listening to the community until after H4 bombed drastically?

343 ran one tournament. HGC. That’s it. An FFA tournament for a team based game. 343 barely even knows what Halo is supposed to be. Bungie created Halo, and by the time it was changed to 343, the majority of Bungie employees weren’t even around when the good Halo games were created. It wasn’t until they hired pros and even MLG staff to work closely on H5 that I was even interested in Halo 5. 343 just cares about their success because they are a part of Microsoft and Microsoft only cares about Halo because it’s the Flagship franchise of the Xbox and they are sucking every bit of money out of it that they can.

Let MLG or an actual Tournament Organizing Company do the tournament organizing. Have 343 work closely with the people who actually know what Halo is to create Halo games.

I disagree. Think what you want about MLG but they knew how to properly run a tournament and get the best competitive settings.

I doubt it. H2A only remastered some of the maps and the rest are just re-tuned to work with 1080p. So there is not enough modern looking content from H2A to hold today’s audience. Who is going to tune in and watch an old game from 10 years ago? Not many people.

H2A is for the fans of Halo. I doubt MLG will focus on it much at all.

Tell that to Counter Strike…

CS:Go says Hi, and would like to point out its a modern looking FPS with superb graphic quality (on PC at least).

Like I said, H2A only remastered a few maps. The remainder will look dated, which I doubt will draw today’s audience. But who knows… I actually hope I am wrong.

H2A is for the new kids of Halo. The ones who don’t like the old stuff because they can’t see through the older graphics and just want the new shiny thing.

H2C and H1 are where the pros and the people who know what a truly competitive title will be playing. Many of the pros have already stated that they will be pouring most of their time into H2C because they would rather play that game than the new shiny one because of the bells and whistles that have been thrown in.

I for one am dying to get my hands on some H2C multiplayer. That was by far some of the most intense and crazy Halo I’ve ever played with friends. All of the Halos after that have slowed everything down to a crawl and the game drags on. I loved the responsiveness of H2C and that’s one reason people loved it compared to the other Halo games since it came out. Plus it will be in 1080p and 60fps, so it will be a lot prettier than it was back then too.

I agree with this. I would pay $60 for the return of Classic Halo 2 alone. Never stopped playing it even after Halo 3 released and was very sad to see it shut down in 2010. All I need is Halo 2 to satisfy me Halo-wise.

I know there are gameplay differences between 1,2 and 3 but I think it would be fun to focus on 2 and 3 for “greatest hit” matches, failing that however, fall back to Halo 2 and Halo 2 Anniversary(there would have to be a good deal of forged maps since there are currently only 6)

Riiiight. Cause 343 definitely built Halo 4 in mind for its failure. Definitely didn’t want future titles to sell well. They were DEFINITELY just setting out to ruin the game.

Are you actually implying 343 wanted H4 to fail or didn’t care if it did or only did it for money? Sure they had stupid ideas but to say everyone in that building didn’t care and/or they only became video game designers to feed more money to their lord and savior Microsoft is probably one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read.

“It wasn’t until they hired pros and even MLG staff to work closely on H5 that I was even interested in Halo 5” I wonder why they did that. Couldn’t be that they’re trying to listen and bring people closer that understand the game well could it? Also why even pretend bungie knew what they were doing. CE was a total miracle due to a man that has not worked on a Halo game since. Tournament wise besides host advantage being reduced in later titles each one was a successive step down from CE despite Halo becoming more and more popular that had nothing to do with the games being mechanically more competitive. The ENTIRE series has been a downward slope in that aspect.

And for the last part. Assuming 343 partners up with Twitch they could run Halo tournaments like the ones we watched, without the game crashing due to alpha builds, and that would be easily enough. It’s really just an opinion but I would rather have 343 interacting directly with the tournament so that the competitive community was directly with, and talking to, 343 and not secluded away -Yoinking!- to themselves on some other website never getting anything done. Why? Because it won’t work anymore. MLG has better games, more viewership, more dev support and no reason to take Halo back. Sitting around and praying they pick up the game is the most useless waste of time and, barring a massive resurgence, less than a pipe dream. Halo has to take care of itself first and I would rather see us focus on that.
