guys let me refrase my last post mlg has been tampering with the normal gametype trying to make it skilled
they should be able to change certain things like dmr no armor lock or other abillities
but it is the official gaming tournements which means they should stick to core game play as in same jump hight same health regeneration same speed
now imagine just think the changed the damage system to where it takes three wacks to kill someone what if the changed it to where you dye in one hit or 2 shots yes there aloud to do that and if they wanted to the would or imagine if you had no gravity had speed all the way up and jump hieght all the way up yes the could do that 343 needs to make the gametype when you play cod or battlefield mlg is the same as the origanal modes (yes i know that cod is nothing like halo) just think
If i read your post correctly, this is what i have to say.
Then what’s the point of running the new settings? That’s a step backwards. Seriously man, ZB no sprint is actually pretty dope once you get used to it. Kill times are so much faster, plus movement and jump height, win :P. That should become the new standard for MLG, nothing else. Hell it’s receiving positive reception from the competitive side.
Yes, I suppose they could change the settings like that. But I can guarantee you that they won’t because those settings don’t make sense. The ZB settings with increased speed and jump height actually feels a lot more like Halo than default Reach.
And why is it such a big deal? If you don’t want to trust MLG with gametype variations, then why play in that playlist?
Did you fail english? Let MLG do what they want, personally i think the new settings are 10x the game vanilla reach was.
I think OP’s point was that MLG gametypes have basically zero relevence to the standard Reach player, nevermind it’s competitive or gameplay merit.
MLG were left with a butchered game to turn into a tournament game and did a pretty good job salvaging what they could with those settings. The plan is for MLG and 343 to collaborate and make sure Halo 4 is competitive ‘out-of-the-box’ therefore; minimal changes regarding the settings will take place.
I’m actually really enjoying the new MLG settings. It took a few games to get used to it, but I definitely think it’s more fitting for what they need. I thought I would miss Sprint too, but I got a game w/ sprint last night and it just felt really weird with ZB.
That being said, I love playing Default Reach as well. I’ve heard that MLG is too far away from regular Halo, but I don’t really think that’s true. First, if MLG tried to play regular Halo at their tournaments, I’m not sure how that would work. It’s possible they might attract more Open bracket participants, but I think their pro players would be unhappy. Second, the true separation in skill between Halo players comes down to decision making and positioning. Those things are very similar between all Halo settings.

When money is on the line, the skill gap between good and bad players should be as wide as possible. That way, the truly deserving team will win. In order to achieve this, settings need to be adjusted. Defualt Reach isn’t good for competitions.

This right here.
I played the new MLG setting as was quite disappointed really Im not on the official forums but with no sprint maps like Oasis feel out of place with ZB & huge spaces! I honestly believe that Halo will be dropped come 2012 because its pointless trying to fine tune a game most Halo players hate.
I would rest Halo now since SC2 & LOL have created a massive following and hopefully (if 343i have done there job right) Halo 4 will be perfect of the mark. Back would come Halo with a new found following again.
I think personally MLG should of used 85% and kept the 2011 setting so that you don’t run the risk of completely altering a game that should resemble what people play in regular matchmaking.

They might as well use ZB, Because MLG barely resembled matchmaking last season anyways.
Oasis was built around bloom, if anything they will probably take it out of the circuit and have new maps, Less gray I hope.
are you kidding me? these new MLG settings are awesome, its how reach should have been in the first place. i’m having more fun getting owned by MLG teams than i ever did dominating lolvanilla reach.

Pretty much, but them doing “a pretty good job” is debatable.
MLG and any league would love to have the game at a competitive level right out of the box, but some times that’s just not the case and changes have to be made. <^_^">
mlg-no sprint faster movement and ZB well balanced! IMO

This made Me lol. Kids are so mad when they find out default reach is not competitive just like we have said for a year.
*Thinks about MLG ZB…*shudders.

…since those changes bring Halo closer to Unreal Tournament which set the standard of competitive play. And so given that game exists why should Halo bend over backwards to appease the already appeased competitive side?
I’m not saying that slow clunky gameplay should be preserved just for the sake of sticking it to MLG, but there’s a lot else that has changed about this game in order to needlessly accommodate the competitive player to baby them through their inability to play the game that’s right for them. The oppressive dominance of the DMR and sniper rifle, for one, can surely be attributed to hardcore catering, as well as the general shittiness of the rest of the non-leet sandbox (ex. the Plasma Rifle, Focus Rifle, Laser) which might otherwise have made Reach interesting to play were it not for the kill joys. Though at least UT had the presence of mind to carefully structure it’s sandbox to avoid such weapon-voiding superiority relationships.
And I’ll go further to say that firefight’s fixation on a robotic scoring mechanism was another tragic move designed to give the hardcore fans something to like about a gametype where they couldn’t shoot another human being in the face and so prove to the world (or at least just their own ego) that they are the better man. And the campaign has probably seen similar simplication to compensate for competitive score-based gameplay, making all of Halo the victim to those who simply can’t play the game that’s right for them.
Now, if people want to play with gametype options and so circumvent what’s best for them then by all means let them waste their time with Reach. But I am not so thrilled that Bungie has and 343 doubtlessly will build the game specifically in order to please their niche. Regardless of exactly what fraction of the community it makes up, it’s still a faction and set within the fraction that is Halo in relation to the FPS genera. Playing to your own audience is NOT going to lead to happiness and success since such an inward glance restricts your wins to a well defined section of gamers, not the limitless market at large which, unlike hardcore fans of Halo, has the potential to make Halo greater than it has ever been before.
So, -Yoink- MLG.
It’s more Bungie’s fault than MLG’s that Reach doesn’t hold up in competitive gameplay.

MLG is the only playlist with settings that feels like a proper Halo and with a proper hidden TrueSkill which equals enjoyable games <3
Just look at this MLG game searching alone.
That was a game with players of the same skill level.
You have got to be kidding me, are the gametypes to hard for you or something?
People like you are the reason why this game fails so much.
