Any word on when we can start to see playlist updates? Specifically, the MLG playlist. It is currently still using v4 maps and settings when v5 maps and gametypes have been out for two months. This should be a simple copy and paste so I don’t know what could possibly be taking so long but I certainly hope that 343i is more responsive to MLG settings and quick to implement changes in the future.

It’s actually much harder than a simple download from File Share and add it to Matchmaking, it needs to be tested to see if everything works fine and there is no problems.
Maps are never easy to make. It’s harder to understand when all players do is download them and play customs.
Really, you need to understand that maps need to be playtested before they go public. Before that, building up a map is a different beast to tackle. Sightlines, map flow, basic geometry, weapon placements…the list goes on and it takes weeks (months to perfect them for later versions) to get them out there.
To the guy who posted above me you obviously know nothing about the differences between the versions of MLG maps…while matchmaking currently uses v4 the circuit is using v5 while v6 is being tested as we speak. There are no new maps in v5 that are not already in the hopper therefore no new “sightlines” exist. The only differences in the versions is custom powerups and slight tweaks of the spawns and different weapon placements, the changes are almost to minute to notice. Just thought id let you in on those details ;)…so therefore it would be simple to just rewrite the code for the changes that have occurred.

The maps still need to be playtested, regardless of the ‘small’ changes to see that everything works.
343i won’t be doing any Matchmaking updates until the Title Update is released.

I found this informative, thank you for not flaming.

I think what he’s getting at is that 343i doesn’t need to test them if they are on the pro circuit. Do you really think MLG would allow a map that has not been tested to go into the circuit? They do all the testing necessary. Those maps have been tested to the limit. As have any settings.

They were tested. Back in April and May. You don’t understand how MLG settings are implemented into the circuit. My point is that the v5 settings have been tested, played on in 2 official MLG tournaments, and have been out for 2 months (post rigorous testing) and they still have not been put into matchmaking.
