Despite the pros competing in the MLG Halo Reach nationals voting 30-17 in favor of no bloom, and the community adamantly opposing bloom ever since Halo Reach came out including a 80/20 vote in favor of no bloom for nationals the MLG “higher-ups” have decided to use bloom for nationals betraying the Halo community once again. This has got to be the stupidest decision In MLG history as Reach will now continue to struggle into the next season.
Well, I never took Halo Reach MLG seriously anyways. Most 1v1s where a player had clearly outsmarted the other usually ended up with the spammer winning.

Its not the end of the world ,it will be removed in 1 or 2 seasons…
This generation of competitive gamers must have a limited critical thinking capacity if they think bloom is anything but detrimental to competitive multiplayer.
Seriously, you’d think they’d learn from the community. Turns out they didn’t.

Actually, the pro vote was something like 31-17 in favor of removing bloom, but it was apparently worthless to even ask them their opinion.
I think MLG is probably just going to keep bloom for the remainder of this season, and then spend time testing ZB setting to see what does/doesn’t work before them implement it next season /opinion.

This. I don’t follow MLG, but I see them testing settings out and making a highly competitive set of rules instead of just shoving something out prematurely.
Man, did anyone see Ninja’s stream after he found out there would be bloom? He spent days playing Zero Bloom customs for practice, and actually had a great time, but now he’s so upset haha. But yeah, I totally agree with him, even though it does make sense to keep the game the way it is for the rest of the season, rather than change things up right before Nationals.
They will take it out for the 2012 season. Just think though. We have CEA and it’s update and maps coming out with their own forge. No bloom, you get the idea. I am sure MLG will make the game the best it can be for players and fans of Halo that watch. Our thirst for no bloom competitive Halo will be so greatly wanted, the kick off next season will make all of us spray love juice like we have ever sprayed before. The 2012 season will bring back a lot of players. Even toughs of you who say you don’t follow MLG you should. It’s your community. But as far a Provi goes. Support it. That way we will have an insane opening next season for Halo. The community will grow at a huge rate by the 2012 season. Guarantee it. I honestly can’t wait.

You like randomness? This one has heard around these parts that randomness=Skill >.>
It’s your opinion, but this one thinks you need to open your eyes and realize bloom (as it is now) is not working as intended. Shishka already confirmed this a while back and that’s from someone who worked on Reach (and is now part of 343). You can’t argue that since it’s coming down from the tops themselves.
> a lot of people dont like bloom because it was just slapped into reach without adequate testing, or forethought, or whatever. they find it hard to see the potential for bloom being anything but terrible because in reach, its abysmally implemented.
I don’t think this is entirely true. I liked Halo for its lack of what I like to call “military-shooter-features”. I’ve played various games where bloom is arguable implemented correctly, but I still hate the bloody feature. Regardless to how it’s implemented it only adds randomness to the game. Knowing when and how much to pace isn’t rocket science. It hardly adds a layer of skill. It adds a layer of randomness. Don’t want a weapon to work past a certain range? Don’t give the player a weapon that shoots bullets then. Give 'em something else, like a LG. Effective inside its intended range, but completely useless outside without being random. An even simpler solution would be to just give the weapon a weaker scope, or perhaps tone down the weapon’s aim-assist whilst scoped. There’s no need for bloom though, and I think the majority of players like Halo for its lack of military-shooter-features. Halo’s an arena shooter, and it should stay like that. Bloom’s not something that works well in arena shooter.
All in all, as much as i hate this decision, this is whats best, its the nationals, the previous 5 events have been with bloom, so they want to make the $100,000 prize to go to the team that has pretty much adapted to it best and what not, i am only hoping this really hasn’t but a huge dent into reach with choose bloom over no bloom, lets hope theres a next season and no bloom can bring reach back up to where the halo franchise use to be.
