I was wondering if this new magnum was meant to be the game’s primary weapon.
I don’t know if time to kill is higher or lower than AR but… 7 shots to kill so fast and so little aim assist it means frustrating 95% of players, and the remaining 5% comfortable. I don’t think it’s a good idea.
The main purpose of the sidekick is to be a cleanup weapon. A weapon you switch to to finish off enemies. You are able to switch to it faster than any weapon and with great accuracy can kill in 7 rapid shots, but it quickly grows inaccurate when rapid fired. It also doesn’t have a 2x zoom like the old magnum, only the 1.4x default zoom, meaning it isn’t really meant for long range engagements (though can be used at longer ranges with good accuracy).
In general you should probably use the AR and switch to the sidekick to finish off the enemy since it’s faster than reloading. You can try to use the sidekick as your primary if you want but it won’t be as effective as the magnum in older games.
Usually I use the AR and then switch to the sidekick if needed.
But I am sure the ‘primary’ weapon for this game is going to be the BR. The way they valued it in the flights by having them in the rack and how well they performed shows that. However, a lot of people complain about the AR/Sidekick needing a nerf because they both also are really good and sometimes outshine the guns on the rack.

Thank you. I too had intended sidekick as a cleaning weapon but, watching videos on youtube, I saw good players using it as a primary weapon. For this reason I thought that perhaps in the competitive at high levels it might be preferred.
It would be nice to know the time to kill of all the weapons …

But a 0.05 second difference is hardly enough to make up for how much harder it is then the AR…
I‘m not even sure if it‘s even something the netcode could handle, I‘m pretty sure two players getting an optimal kill on oneanother would leave both dead and not just the AR user

I recommend they bump the optimal up by .10 for the AR personally.

This doesn’t make sense … why on earth would you use a BR with that time to kill? They want us to play competitively with AR?

judging by what 343 has done in the past: Yes…
The entire balancing is just off. The AR is basically low risk-high reward while the pistol is high risk-low reward. The BR is in a super wierd spot having such a long TTK that there is just no way it can be a proper utility weapon for comp. play.

It would make it more consistent, where as right now its only that consistent sometimes. Removing bloom allows us to address the TTK directly

in the past 343 make BR as primary weapon in competitive gaming… and Magnum in H5. No one faces the Halo 5 magnum with the AR… So the past has nothing to do with it in my opinion.
The difference with the past is that now there are more effective automatic weapons (long range for AR and Commando, and low time to kill) perhaps more convenient than semi-automatic ones…
