Not sure if there has already been a topic on this but Mortal Kombat X has been confirmed to have Console exclusive fighters. (Link)
So now we are left to wonder what fighter (or fighters) would be a good fit for Mortal Kombat.
Now, seeing as Halo is Microsoft’s flagship franchise, it would be logical to assume that Halo will be involved, or at least considered, in some way.
But to be honest, i’m not sure if Halo, and (to be more specific) The Chief would really work in MK X. It just doesn’t feel right to me.
This leaves me wondering what combatants Xbox players have left that wouldn’t seem out of place. Last generation, PS3 players got Kratos, who was an all too perfect choice for Mortal Kombat. Only character that comes to mind for Xbox is Marcus Fenix.
Mortal Kombat has never been a series I’ve enjoyed, perhaps because of the gore.
Either way, if we look back in history we remember that DoA 4 had a guest appearance with a female spartan. So I’d say that Halo wouldn’t be a bad contribution to MKX.
However, I’m wondering if it wouldn’t be nicer to see something else than a spartan. I’d like to see an Elite, perhaps the Arbiter. I doubt it however as it might be better from a developer point of view to keep atleast the anatomy of all fighters the same. Since there’s X-ray vision and so on.
If there’s a guest appearance from Halo, I’d say it’s either going to be another non-canon character like in DoA 4, or we’re going to see Agent Locke as a promotional thing for Halo 5: Guardians.
Other than that I agree GoW would suit the general gorey feel of MK better than Halo would, and I can’t really think of any other Xbox exclusive at the moment anyway, not any that would work for a guest appearance in MK.
It’d be a nice twist if they swapped the console exclusive characters around. MK on PS gets xbox characters and the other way around.
Well in MK9, they said that they had an Xbox exclusive character planned, but cut it due to time constraints. So yeah, maybe they already have it figured out? In fact, since PS3 had Kratos, what’s to stop Xbox from getting Tartarus?
