MJONIR MARK VII.

So, a couple of days back, I went on Halo Nation, a local Halo Wikia, and after looking up ‘MJONIR.’ Apparently, a Mark VII was in the works before John got into Cyro. Four years later, and they haven’t built it?

According to the Wikia, the Mark VII was supposed to have ODST dropod technolgy built in, a plasma powered energy source, and limited Shield manipulation; or shapeshifting the shield.

It also states that a Spartan II wears this armor, Naomi-010. If 343 just happened to want to change Chief’s armor, they have a good excuse, but no, it’s just the Mark VI.

Does anyone have a reason for this? Was I fed wrong info?

The Halsey journal lists these as planned features for the Mark VII, but that doesn’t neccesarily mean the Mark VII actually has these features. Another example of why you should never trust Wikias.

Naomi is wearing Mark 7, issued by … (Halo: Glasslands, page 291)

Master Chief (Halo 3) is wearing Mark 6.

Halo 4 It’s a Mark 6 variant, defined by Cortana, modified by nanobots while in Cryo-sleep.

Chief has been in cryo approximatley 5 years, enough time for this modification to be carried out, I guess.

Spartan 3s wear SPI/ Mark 5 armour.

Spartan 4s have their own variant of Mjolnir.

Spartan 3s who are intergrating with the Spartan 4 program will get the Spartan 4 variant of Mjolnir.

No. No. No. No. No.

The MK VI has no “nanobots”. Never did. The different look is purely artistic.

Firmware, baby. -Yoink!- uncensored and highly sexualized firmware. Mmmmmhmmmmm.

I was under the impression that while some of the choices of chiefs new look were just the new artistic rendering, there was a reason for other parts.

That is the HUD only. As in what chief sees inside his helmet. Has nothing to do with the physical shape and configuration of his armor.

I don’t trust Wikia for this kind of info. One could easily go in and change the info. I would stick to official sources.

Wikias tend to pour a little bit of falicy in with the truth, so while some may be true, a portion will be false, so come to the community for help

Where is Chief supposed to get it on a derelict half-ship in the middle of deep space?

This is indeed puzzling. Things would go a lot smoother for 343 if they just said it was a new artistic approach. Personally I think the Mark VI BUNGiE drew was not anywhere near the best looking. In my opinion nothing can touch the Mark V. Back to OP, I don’t see how he gets the new look with any canonical explanation. No nanobots with the Mark 6 suit, and she can’t physically go in and alter the armor, so who would?

I don’t see how chief gets it for sure. Mark VI was not equipped with nano-bots, nor can Cortana go in physically and change the armor. Things would just be easier for 343 if they just called it a new artistic approach rather than trying to place it into the canon. Btw, you can never beat the appearance of the Mark V. It will always look the coolest/best.

Honestly I think they should have went with the nanobots excuse, it would have passed by me. I still want to see what they’re going to put as the canon explanation for whatever they decide to explain.

I do like the new look though.

Have you seen the artwork for Halo 4 in that trailer the show at Halofest?

That ship John is on in the artwork isn’t even the Dawn. It’s a different ship.

Same place where he’s supposed to get the BR85 and the other new UNSC weapons.

Mk. VI does not have any nanotech, whatsoever. Only the Mk. VII does.

John is still wearing his Mk. VI. The reason for the new armor look is just an artistic change, though the reason for the new HUD is explained ingame as due to Cortana upgrading the suit’s firmware. Alledgedly there is in fact an ingame explanation for the new armor look, though it’s supposed to be somewhat minor, with the main reason being the aesthetic change.

To the OP: Mk. VII’s been around since the end of Halo 3. It may or may not have some of the feature Halsey’s journal listed, since i’m pretty sure a bunch of the stuff slated for the Mk. VII was able to be incorperated into either the Mk. VI or V (can’t remember which exactly).

How do you know the explanation for his new armor look in only minor? Just Curious i haven’t heard of it. Just new there was a Logistic reasoning behind the Armor Change.

That’s artwork of the Infinity, John is still on the Dawn.

My theory is that he gets those from the Covenant scavengers.

Frankie…or someone said that Chief crosses paths with the infinity in the game. That’s likely where.

The GI article mentions the BR being used in the first level. The Dawn could’ve crossed paths with the Infinity before this, but honestly that would destroy the sense of loneliness at the beginning of the game.
