Like most folks, I was fairly disappointed in season 1 options and content for 100 tiers and six months of time. Locking the armor and visor colors behind cores was also illogical and kind of cheap as well so it’s good to see that definitely changing.
I liked the idea having multiple suits that I could pick and choose the look of pretty easily. It also made sense in my mind that these cores are manufactured for different needs and in some cases several technological generations apart so not all of the parts would be compatible with each other. (Not defending the lack of options to begin with or the nonsense color/visor lock)
Kind of sad to see that go… but they suffered from lack of options likely from development issues up to launch and a way too aggressive(read: extortion) monetization model. There have been a lot of changes and I think this one could be made to work instead of trashed
BUT if 343 can let me set up kits and save them on each pedestal in the customize screen then I guess I’m good with it. I think that’s what I really want
Do most of y’all like the idea of losing the cores?

Cores never really should have been such a restrictive a thing to begin with…so yeah, I’m -Yoink!-ing ecstatic. I’m kind of baffled to see someone actually like armor piece restrictions.
Plus some of the quirkier stuff like Yoroi will still be mostly exclusive within the core. Its mainly the canon armors (Mark V, VII, Lone Wolves[?]) they said they are going to target first for cross-core since those are more similar in build and part placement.
I’m fairly indifferent to it to be honest.
I think visors and coatings should be cross-core for sure but I don’t really care about the armor.
It will be nice to see greater variations though.
I wouldn’t think they’d scrap the loadout options from the armor hall when they combine the core functionality…
Overall, I’m ecstatic that the restrictions around canon cores are seemingly destined to go away. That said, I have to agree with the basic lore idea behind cores being really cool. The idea of your MP Spartan having access to requisition multiple sets of armor from different times and iterative platforms is rad.
The best case scenario, IMO, is for the restrictions to go away as much as is possible. Lore wise, they can justify this by saying that the (hopefylly) 95%+ of armor pieces that can be freely swapped across cores require only minimal engineering and firmware tweaking to become backwards or forwards compatible with cores other than their native one. Grants an entire additional cool layer to the mythology behind Mjolnir, IMO.
That way, players still have their “presets” saved on every independent core they own, but those configurations aren’t locked down to a comparatively tiny slice of the overall cosmetics available based on the core in question. I don’t really want to see the core presentation go away, as I really do dig having both Mk VII and Mk V [B] sets available. I’d just like it all the more if I could use the pieces interchangeably between them, for the most part. It’d make the few pieces that aren’t feasible to apply cross-core seem more unique and special to their respective cores, as well.
