This is about a possible link between achievements and the “unplayed” campaign missions.
Yesterday, I was playing through the CE co-op (split screen) missions doing the normal difficulty. I received achievements for the missions up to the Cartographer. At this point, no issues. I had to leave for a few hours but came back on to finish the campaign. We noticed that while doing these missions, no achievements were popping up. I looked on the forums and sure enough, others are having issues.
A little frustrated we stopped playing and I jumped into matchmaking. Lo and behold I received an achievement. So this had me thinking. Why aren’t the campaign ones working? When I went to the Xbox Achievements for Halo, the ones that I should have had were full bared blue, but not unlocked? Interesting. So I went a step further. I got back on to MCC (just myself this time) and check the campaign levels. Interestingly, the game says I have only completed 343 Guilty Spark. Yet I actually did “The Pillar of Autumn” through “The Library”. When I looked at the co-op, it says “unplayed”. Yet, I actually did play them and the Xbox has the achievement full bared blue.
My theory
When I read the 343 notes this morning. They mentioned that the achievements were an “unrelated issue”. At first, I thought, maybe it is Xbox servers with issues. But I don’t think so. I think it’s on the 343 side. I did play through the co-op missions and when I came back all of sudden achievements aren’t working and the missions are listed as “unplayed.” I don’t know how it all works exactly, but the achievement is ready to unlock, but maybe it reads (from the actual game) that I haven’t played it.
Just trying to help pin point issues and hope this helps. Hopefully this helps 343 as well.
