Mission forge

Well I’m sure this idea has been going around for a while but I want to make it noticed. I feel the best way 343 can give us a new experience with Halo is to allow us to build our very own missions.

Base maps can be provided by them to which we can modify with forge pieces, but the biggest perk would be the ability to place our very own A.I. and objectives. Anything from a Grunt to a Pelican and the ability to order them into different factions could be available to you. Though what I believe would seal the deal is if we could modify the traits of the A.I… So things like height, speed, melee damage & speed could be adjusted to what we see fit.

I know there’s going to be people coming out with “8 year olds are going to spam this feature with crap” so I say give it the same treatment with games-types in Reach where you could look them up via a custom search, and quite simply: if you don’t like it, DON’T play it.

Now I don’t expect this for Halo 4 because that’s probably past a stage where something like this can be added, but maybe an upcoming title. Hell, if there was a Xbox/PC game just for this feature so it meant it was more advanced I’d by it!

So show your approval or your own input for this idea by commenting.

It would be pretty neat to be able to put your own A.I. on your map.

Come on, I expected a few more replies than this.

I’ve wanted something like this ever since I played Forge on High Ground way back near the release of Halo 3.

If they can actually do it without breaking the game or something, I say yes.

Adding AI is harder than it seems. It’s not as simple as setting down spawn nodes, you have to path them, skin them, tell them who to attack, ect.

*Devil’s advocate here, but if we do that, we may just show up 343 on mission builds.

All of which could be simplified or added as item options.

Place AI spawn. Options include rank and species, specific options allow for “mood” (Aggressive, passive, etc.), another spawn point to patrol back and forth from, or a radius that it has to stay in.

And many more. All of which could just be options in Forge.

I was aware it would seem hard for us to script the A.I. but maybe if 343 gave us tools like those you get in that spore expansion (and more advanced I hope) I’m sure 343 could pull something that just blows all of Halo’s rival well out of the water.

You could even have the option of playing as someone other than MC. I would most probably make myself a 9’ Elite or something.

C’mon a little more attention.

Just so you know, bumping (commenting on your thread solely to bring it back to the front page) is against the rules. You should avoid doing so.

He’s right, I would advise against it.

Sorry lads, it’s just that I would like to see this idea get a lot attention and more importantly get lots of people views and input on it, in stead of seeing down under silly threads like the one I saw about: “The importance of lighting in Halo”. -_-

me likey, me likey, this similar to this http://halo.xbox.com/Forums/yaf_postst63423_new-Forge--endless-possiblities.aspx?g=posts&t=63423&fb_source=message
