Mission Completion Not Recording

I have been playing through the Reach Campaign solo on legendary difficulty. My completion of the missions Nightfall, Tip of the Spear, and Long Night of Solace were all not tracked. What I mean is that none of the achievements related to completion (and score/time) unlocked on finishing them, the game menu lists them as ‘unplayed’ under the solo window, and waypoint lists the missions as uncompleted. I replayed both Nightfall and Tip of the Spear from start to finish, and it worked properly the second time, but after doing so, I played through Long Night of Solace and nothing unlocked. I’d rather not have to complete all the missions multiple times just to hope that they work properly the second time around.

For reference, I played through all of those missions from the start, completed them in a single session, did not quit to menu at any point, and only had Grunt Birthday Party and IWHBYD enabled. Any assistance or similar reports would be greatly appreciated, as this is making finishing the campaign quite a slog.

I just had this happen to me after completing nightfall.

EDIT UPDATE:
I restarted nightfall because I wanted to practice speed running it. Despite selecting the start of the mission, when changing the hud tracker to time, it told me it would only track it from the start of the mission. Went back, reselected alpha point, selected time and started the mission. The achievement did the pop on completion then.
(6:51 legenday… still practicing :D)

This worked for me Jerdude1234. Thanks!

this is also happening to me, also on Nightfall

wondering if it doesn’t count after a certain number of deaths?
or if it doesn’t count after you “load from last checkpoint”?

Hello there a burn victim,

I’ve seen people with this same issue. And the fix that I’m seeing work for everyone is: Doing the playthrough of the level in one go. Because I guess when you restart from your previous checkpoint a bunch, the time bugs out.

Hope this helps,
Happy Gaming,

This worked for a while until now. I just sat down and played Pillars of Autumn on Legendary Solo in one sitting. It took me 3+ hours. After I completed the mission, nothing. No achievement, no marked completion, nothing.
I am done playing this game until these insane bugs are fixed. This is supposed to be a AAA game. What is the point of a beta if they don’t #$%^& fix anything?

Hey a burn victim,

I would go to “My Games and Apps” press start on the MCC and go to “Manage Game and Add-ons.” Then Delete your local save file. It’s the one with your profile picture on it. Don’t delete any other one.

After, relaunch Halo MCC and replay The Pillar of Autumn, being sure to watch all cut scenes. After game completion, and upon going to the next level which is the Epilogue, press start and select “Save and Quit.” That should be able to save your game data for you. I’m sorry you have to play the level again but good things are worth grinding for.

And I know this isn’t the right place for this but I’d be willing to help you if you ever wanted someone to play with.

Happy Gaming!

Thank you, Rare Squared. I really appreciate your offer. I have cooled down a bit lol but I still think I will wait a bit before playing campaign until they iron this out. Once again though, thank you for your offer.

More than 6 months later and they still haven’t fixed this. Thanks, 343!

it happened to me on Halo 3’s Halo mission 2x now lol

Yep. I had to replay 3 different Reach Missions for them to register as ‘Complete’ back in December. Decided to give it another shot last night and I’m fuming. Replayed ‘Long Night of Solace’ 3 times to no avail. Waste of time. Thanks, 343!

Edit: After saving and quitting the game I loaded it back in and it ended up saving it after all. The achievement didn’t pop until I looked up the problem and other people suggested I start the first cut scene mission and as soon as it started loading the achievement popped. So I guess it’s mostly working.

Original post:
I needed to shave off 16 min somewhere to get the under 3 hours achievement. Just did Long night of solace and managed to beat it by 19 min faster than my previous time! After the mission ended it didn’t save my new time and still has my old one listed as my fastest. I hate that mission so much I don’t want to have to do it again. This is so stupid. Things like this remind me why I stopped playing MCC. They said they would only release it on PC when it was ready but things like this keep happening.

Still can’t get Halo 3’s “halo” mission to complete

EDIT: ok i got the achievement and completion, the problem was that i was on “TIME SCORING” mode

Oddly enough this happened to me twice yesterday and today while playing Halo 3. I had to beat Tsavo Highway twice for it to register that I beat it on Legendary, the first time I beat it, it showed as “Unplayed.” I wonder if the amount of times you die has something to do with it, since I played awful the first time around and then didn’t do as horrendous the second time around. Both times I played I got stuck largely at the second to last area of the game, where you have the Brutes pinning you up at the top of that hill where the two little bases are, while there is a Wraith down on the street blasting away at you. The level was pretty easy up until that point and then becomes outrageously hard.

Then, it happened to me on The Storm. I had to beat the level three times on Legendary for it to finally say that I beat it on Legendary. I did beat it on Normal in between attempts two and three to see if that would have cleared it up, but when I did beat it then it showed me as having beat the level on Normal (despite beating it twice on Legendary beforehand). On my third attempt I played a lot better and now it shows me as beating the level on Legendary. Most of my deaths came during the Scarab fight but I was pretty good outside of that. My completion times on my three Legendary attempts were over an hour on the first try, 52 minutes on the second try, and then I got it to 44 minutes on the third try, so I do wonder if it’s a combination of either dying a lot and taking way too long to beat the level.

EDIT: I should also mention that after beating both levels and with the levels still showing as Unplayed, I did quit and relaunch MCC to see if that would have cleared it up (also did restart the missions), but had no luck in that regard.

EDIT 2: The HUD that I was using lately was just the score, while normally I use only the time. Maybe I should try switching back to just using the time and see if that has something to do with it?

Update on this, played Floodgate for the first time solo today, did pretty good, not dying once and finishing it fairly quickly (on Legendary). Didn’t get the recording for beating it on Legendary. Also, not sure how this works, but I was unable to customize the scoring/time HUD the first time around, the option was grayed out (so when I beat it, there was no intermission and went straight to The Ark). Went back, this time it allowed me to customize the HUD, set it to timer only, finished in about 18 minutes and I think two deaths, now it shows I beat it on Legendary.

I fear having to do The Ark multiple times, lol.
