Missing weapons?

So I’m noticing quite a few weapons missing from the second flight for halo infinite, such as the spartan laser, smg, dmr, carbine, energy sword, regular shotgun, and other various weapons. Don’t get me wrong I like the new weapons but I really don’t think that there is a reason not to put these other weapons into the game. Maybe it’s just that the flight is to preview their new weapons?

The Sword is confirmed to be in the game, it’s just not available on any offered maps. I think I read somewhere that the old shotgun was datamined from the first flight, alongside a more “classic” magnum, but I can’t remember where I read that.

The other weapons, however, are not in the game at all, mainly to reduce sandbox redundancy: why bother having the DMR when the Battle Rifle fills the same role? That doesn’t mean these weapon won’t return in the future, but for now all the bases seem to be covered.

I agree with OP the more the merrier. IMO idk why we had to move a lot of guns out of the way to make room for the new ones.

Don’t forget about the Plasma Riffle!

Just going to add here man. There are multiple reasons to have more then ONE weapon per role. DMR and Battle Rifle are different guns, sure they are marksman rifles but they play differently. Swat will not be the same with a BR.

I will add my own comment on the topic too.
People argue, why add redundant or multiple weapons for the same role. I ask, why not?
Look, if COD and 100’s of other titles put in well over 40 guns in their games… then maybe there is room for more games. Just because mainstream people dont use a gun doesn’t mean it isn’t great for custom games, or there are a subset of people that enjoy those guns. If you want to make a competitive game like CSGO inside Halo, then make Ranked matchmaking use only specific weapons… oh wait, they already do!
So why remove the weapons if others might like them. Esports, casual, modded. You have to look at it from all views and having more weapons would not hurt anyone. As for game size, weapons and textures can be big, yes I get this. But If cod players are willing to download 200gb for warzone, then im sure Halo fans can open a few more gigs for the game v_v

COD isn’t a sandbox shooter. Its guns don’t fit different roles in the same way Halo’s do. Sure they have overlap but you’re comparing apples and oranges here in my opinion. I’m not saying there can’t be redundancy or overlap, but you have be careful. Having faction parity and such waters down the sandbox to an extent. What if the UNSC had a plasma pistol style weapon? Now all the sudden the plasma pistol is not as unique.

Sandbox shooter? Yea please enlighten me on what that is?
I don’t really see the Arenas as sandbox at all. You get set weapons, a set playing field, and set rules. mapmakers, modders, and 343 all can choose what guns are in certain modes, and match making types. But why excluded them from the game entirely.

I wouldnt really call the possible inclusion of the DMR a redundancy. While similar in function, DMR does fill a different role than the BR. The range of the DMR is actually substantially longer than that of the BR. This is especially noticeable in big team battle matches and gametypes.

If I’m playing on big maps with long sight lines like Valhalla, Blood Gultch, Sandtrap, etc, I’m picking the DMR over the BR every single time. IMO there needs to be a happy medium between the sniper and the BR on those bigger maps.
