Missing Player ID Avatars + Spartan View Model As Avatar

I get it. There are already 110 available avatars to choose from in the MCC…

But I really do believe that 343i dropped the ball in 2019 when they ported Halo: Reach over to PC and forgot to add Halo: Reach inspired avatars to the game! There are also several pre-order avatars from the original 2014 release of MCC that remain unobtainable to this day!

Maybe it’s a small nitpick. But it just feels so inconsistent to me for such avatars not to become available to everyone years later. And when it could be done so easily! (Literally a matter of adding a couple png files to the code! And making them unlockable in the Exchange!)

What’s more, the continual addition of new nameplates (now over 500) but LACK of new avatars (still 110) almost makes it feel like the devs, in retrospect, acknowledge that avatars were a bit of a filler implementation to begin with lol. Which kinda makes me feel like, “Okay, kudos to you — but at least finish the job!”

I hate the inconsistency of their not being Halo: Reach avatars in the MCC! And there being no way to get the pre-order avatars of old!

So, that’s what this topic is arguing: Bring back the pre-order avatars and add Halo: Reach avatars to the MCC. If for nothing else, the sake of completion! Let Nobles 1-6 and the old pre-order bonuses be optional avatars redeemable from the Exchange.

After and ONLY after that, maybe then incorporate an option for Spartan view models to replace avatars altogether! So players can show off their Spartan like is possible in most other Halo games!

If anyone else agrees with this, please leave your thoughts below!

I would very much like to see this changed :crossed_fingers:

Agreed. Noble Team individually, Colonel Holland, Skirmishers, BOB, Moa, Guta, etc. all deserve a place in the avatar list.

I think it’s weird we can’t just have our spartan there tbh.

Technically speaking MCC does have a Reach Avatar, but it was added by mistake.

That said; its odd they didn’t just use the Firefight Voice images from Reach as avatars and call it a night, since they’re almost identical in function to the existing avatars.

Yes, and what I think 343i could also do if they go this route is re-implement Halo 4’s Stances as a feature for all games! It would be a very cool return!

They’re literally already halfway there with the MCC’s Poses. All they need to do is make Poses avatar options and re-introduce Halo 4’s actual view model variants from the original game.

Will it happen? I’d be shocked.

I knew of this lmao :joy:

It drove me crazy for a long time. But now that Halo: Reach is actually a part of the game, I’ve gotten over it. However, I believe my argument still stands – more avatars are needed for Halo: Reach haha!

And yes it’s odd, but this is coming from the same dev team who…

  1. Put H2 Gravemind (a spaceship level) in a jungle-themed Cross Game Playlist. (It needs to be H2 Delta Halo!)
  2. Put H:CE Two Betrayals (a level without Guilty Spark) in a GuiltySpark-themed Cross Game Playlist. (It needs to be H:CE The Library!)
  3. Have yet to add any Cross Game Playlists that feature H3:ODST levels despite H3:ODST’s cover art appearing in the Cross Game Playlist slideshow.
  4. In the process of restoring Firefight Voice Previews for Halo: Reach customization, accidentally cut the iconic descriptions of said Firefight Voices.
  5. In the process of adding cosmetics to Halo: CE, accidentally left the Ghost Schism skin with an inconsistent description that’s STILL incorrect.
  6. In the process of adding Season 5: Anvil nameplates, accidentally SWITCHED the titles of the “Remember Reach” and “From the Beginning” nameplates — WHICH HAS BEEN FIXED… BUT ONLY HALFWAY! (The “Remember Reach” nameplate still reads as “From the Beginning,” meaning their are now TWO “From the Beginning” nameplates in the game!)

In layman’s terms, they are not the most thorough dev team. No offense lol.
