I have played H4 all the way through on Normal, and it worked fine. After completing all the Spartan Ops, decided to replay H4 on next level (Heroic) And I have 2 issues that never occurred in the first play. I reverted to Normal level but the issues remain.

There is no HUD. Nothing! No radar, no health meter, no weapons/ammo, nothing. Also, there is no weapon in John’s hand. The game plays as if, but all I see is muzzle fire, no weapon. I can pick them up, reload, throw grenades, but none of it shows on screen, only the game screens, enemies, etc.

Even after multiple checkpoint completions, if John dies, the game goes all the way back to Forward, floating in space. No saves.
I loaded and played H3 Reach from Disk 2, and all is fine. Back to H4, no HUD, no saves.
I play a very basic game, not looking for ‘Easter Eggs’ or Skulls, are extras of any sort (mostly because I have not taken the time to figure out how it all works). I am not sure if I got a complete game, even though it was sealed. It is the first Halo (I have them all) that came with NO MANUAL

Also… I can see Cortana’s screen when she pops up, and if I look down, I can see John’s feet, and his shadow holding the rifle, but otherwise the screen is empty except for the actual game play screen.
Maybe you turned on the Blind skull and the Iron skull but you don’t remember doing so?
Iron: If you die, you go back to the beginning of the mission and have to redo the entire mission all over again.
Blind: Takes away your hud elements but IIRC, comm chatter screens are still there and you can see your feet looking down and your shadow shows you holding a weapon.
If you shoot with the Blind Skull on, you should see the spark from the weapon and for Forerunner weapons, you can see some of the highlights on it.

Definatly sounds like this. I was playing a campaign mission with a friend and it had a skull on but he never turned it on. Maybe theres an issue with them coming on by themselves.
