I just recently got the “Legend” achievement, which was all sorts of messed up to begin with, but after waiting over 24 hours I haven’t gotten the Helioskrill armor in game, should I wait longer? Or is this some kind of issue. I had to play Halo 2 twice on legendary for this armor so I’d really appreciate it if I could get the armor.

Try going back to MCC and change some customization option (emblem, armor, etc.). Maybe play a MP game or a campaign level; something to get your stats to update. Then go back to Halo 5 and see if you go Helioskrill.
