There’s some missinformation about the killtimes in Infinite that’s spreading around, and I’ve been guilty if misquoting these killtimes as well, because I did some more research and found out where the wrong idea came from.
Anyway, it’s coming from this video posted by Arrrash on YouTube that is actually not using a proper timer to count the kills. You’ll notice the “milliseconds” only count up to .59 within the time of a second. And upon further research I found that the end results even taking that into account were skewed. This is causing a lot of people, myself included, to make the claim that the AR, Sidekick, and Commando all have a sub .6 second TTK when in fact they all have a TTK above 1 second.
Aozolai did a series of videos, including this one calculating killtimes of the AR and Commando. He did it properly, that’s to say he calculated the exact shots to kill first, then the amount of time required to get those shots, before capturing footage of perfect kills for the video. In this video which has everything timed accurately, we see that the AR actually has a TTK of 1.15 seconds, and the Commando’s is 1.0.
Just for future reference to everyone talking about TTK please refer to Aozolai’s videos for exact numbers, he’s been doing these thorough weapon tests for a very long time and it’s safe to say you can trust his information to be accurate.
I’m sorry for my part in spreading the missinformation of the sub .6s killtimes around the forum. I hope this helps us all clear it up.
I’ve seen you reply in my own thread about TTK. Have I been inacurate as well?
In addition to the video you listed (the one with wrong numbers), I have also used and cited this video:
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ISi9QoIz88&t=53sKeep in mind I’ve been using 60th of a second on purpose because nearly all the video sources and legacy sources do that. The video uses the same hardware to capture all the weapons so I’m guessing it’s a safe comparison between weapons in a game.
I’ve assumed that the measured values have been accurate enough for comparison between games. Was I wrong?
It appears to me the best way to measure the time is to capture an entire mag-dump in video recording software, and measure the time between first and last sound peak. Divide [number of bullets in a mag] by that number and we have rate of fire.
We can use the rate of fire, and number of bullets for kill, to calculate a more accurate TTK. I can do the math but I don’t have the hardware/software.

I believe your thread may have been where I got the wrong numbers from, yeah.
A large part of why that video doesn’t work isn’t just the different use of timing. But you can also tell that the killtimes recorded are never the same and math comparing damage per shot, and rpm isn’t used to calculate an exact TTK.
Aozolai has spent years analyzing most of the weapons across most of the games in the series. So if you ever need to reference an older game’s weapons, he’s got it right there ready to use without the need to go to other sources. The only one I had to dig elsewhere for so far was the Halo 4 AR.

Ok so do you happen to have more accurate numbers on hand that I can use in the TTK thread? (if you collected numbers from several “aozolai” videos).
I’m aware the videos don’t do the math but from what I can tell Aozolai doesn’t either?
