Missed opportunity with Squad AI

Everyone knows the AI for the squad sucks. What I want to know is why Star Wars : Republic Commando can do it better all those years ago. It’s almost as if the teams were put in there as a plot convenience so that the appearance of teammates during co-op mode doesn’t need an explanation. Halo 3 didn’t see a problem with some elite turning up. It was a better system.

It wasn’t all that great, they were plenty of times where I would walk inside a secret location (shoulder charge to open it kinda location) order someone to pick up a power weapon and they literally did nothing. Not a single person walked in and picked it up, I had to carry the damn gun outside, drop it, go back and pick up my gun then order them to pick it up. I also hated when I wanted my team to take the high ground, which they would do, then have them focus on a target, only for them to walk off the high ground I had just ordered them to go to. Like what the hell? Shoot the sob from the cliff that provides natural cover rather than combat the knight from ground level. They could have been fine tuned but ehhhh. I didn’t mind them too much when playing but it was pretty noticeable. They reminded me of the Sophomore on the Varsity team, “just don’t screw it up and you’ll be fine”. They performed their jobs alright could have been better.

The squad KI is not the best maybe because the campagne would be too easy, even on higher difficulty.

i have no idea i don’t really use the AI squads they take away the fun sometimes.

Halo team AI in every game was pretty bad anyway. At least in Halo 5 you can send your squad to distract the enemy :smiley:
