Miranda Keyes

Hey Spartans,

Just curious to see how you guys felt about Miranda Keyes in H2 and H3. Do you feel that she was an important character? Did you find her to be rather useless? Were you sad when she died? Things like that!

She’s obvi not a truly horrid character like Warden or Palmer lolol

I honestly thought she was pretty cool. She definitely made her father proud.

Lemme know!

All of my feelings towards her can be summed up in three letters and one punctuation mark:
Meh.

Halo 2 Miranda is a really great character. Halo 3 Miranda is one of the worst characters in the entire series

H2 was far better that’s for sure

She was a good character

“To War”
whyyyyyy did they write that?

Buncha Eggheads if you ask me.

Keyes was lame. Bad leader, bad fighter, and her voice actress changing was super weird for me.

Great character!

Some time later:
Marine: Seriously ma’am, squadron commanders need a rally point. Where do you want them to go?
Keyes: To war.
Marine: I know. You already said that. Where exactly?
Keyes: To war.
Marine: GOD -Yoink!- WOMAN! Tell me where you want them to go!
Keyes: To war.
Marine: You know what? Screw this. I ain’t paid enough to deal with this crap.

Felt worser over her dead then over Johnsons.

I know right, I still cringe to this day

She wasn’t bad… but I feel like they could’ve done way more with her as a character. Definitely doesn’t live up to her dad (Edit: Or her mom, forgot she was Halsey’s daughter. You’d think the daughter of two of the most important characters in the Halo universe would have more to offer).

She was pretty okay.

I think Miranda Keyes was better in 2 then she was in 3. In 3 she made a really stupid decision which ended in her death, of course emotions were running high so I understand that her common sense was thrown out the window but still. Either way she was a good character.

She needed to be much more developped. She’s the daughter of one of Jacob Keyes and Catherine Elizabeth Halsey of all people. Respectively one of the best soldiers and tacticians of the UNSC and the creator of the Spartan program. There should have been a book about her, especially in order to flesh out her relation with Halsey, which seemed rocky but we never got to know much about.

The problem is that such a book should have come a long time ago. Now the universe has moved on, and I fear it might be too late. Halsey is still around though, so I haven’t lost all hope of seeing her character developped in flashback sequences.

Miranda Keyes was an excellent character in the Halo original trilogy. As noted above she was wasted in Halo:3, but still was important to the core story. From Halsey’s journal we also learn that Miranda is her daughter, which also adds to her character.

I cared when she died because of how it affected Johnson. I wasn’t a huge Miranda fan but she was ok. I’d say I care more about both her parents than her herself, though.

Bungie built up Capt Keyes to be such an authority. Hes tired and war worn, and just does everything to get his boys home. They did that in 6missions in Halo CE(since he died halfway), then expanded his role in the books.

Miranda just is a wild child of a great man, that seemingly didnt do anything to earn her commission. The war destroying ships and more experienced captains by the truckload, ensured her a spot, and got her a crappy little escort/frigate thing.

I didnt even blink when she died.

I didn’t really care about her, but I have to admit, I was shocked when she was killed by the Prophet of Regret. That was really unexpected.
