I’m really frustrated at 343 for their lack of understanding the community. H5 MP is very balanced but matchmaking limits what could be. What made Halo 3 brilliant despite its flaws is how the core gameplay was used in various gametypes and variants. Ive seen people say they’re bored of h5 and I totally understand. Halo 5 feels like a certain style is forced on the player. 343 needs to use core mechanics or even tweaked mechanics(no sprint modes for example) in a variety of playlists. And STOP removing playlists!!! This is probably the dumbest practice I’ve ever seen. There are people who would play H5 non stop if Doubles and Rocket Slayer wasnt just a weekend thing. Can someone at 343 explain this?
Some examples of variants:
Team Marksmen- 4v4 slayer that rotates DMR, BR, LR, Carbine starts. Possibly no Sprint or thrusters which could effect long range firefights. Possibly increased movement speed.
Breakout BRs. Breakout with full shields and BR starts played on Slayer maps(no Breakout maps). Now this one can be tricky because Breakout reduced shields allow comebacks where as full shields would make a 3v4 or 2v4 almost impossible to turn around. But I think its at least worth trying.
If you guys and gals have ideas for a variant please share.
Playlists that should NEVER be removed:
Doubles
Team Snipers-343 should add Beam Rifle and Binary starts as variants. Could also include Shotty Snipers
Team Classic-a dedicated playlist with Spartan Abilities turned off. Rotates AR/Magnum and BR starts.
Team Objective
Action Sack
Social Slayer(coming soon apparently)
These are just things I could think of. H5’s playlist selection is extremely bare compared to any other shooter. Problem with 343 is they havent expanded on Halo experience. They’ve been playing replace and remove for 2 games now. As a fan since CE Ive been very open to new mechanics but releasing a Halo game with so few matchmaking options is the worst thing 343 could have done to a Halo game. Dont get me started on no Firefight or Co-op Matchmaking. 343 did a great job of balancing weapons and abilities but completely failed at delivering a robust Halo MP experience.
